Total Spaces Design remodeled this house completely, on a very tight budget, using premium materials salvaged from Second Use, and a few other Earth saving salvage opportunities, sweat equity from the homeowner with how to tips along the way and Eleanor’s own unique brand of creativity.
Comprehesive Overdose Prevention Education
This document provides information on preventing and responding to overdoses. It lists 10 things people can do to prevent overdosing, such as avoiding mixing drugs, testing doses, and not using alone. Myths about overdose prevention are debunked, and the proper response is outlined in 3 steps: 1) Stimulate the victim by shouting, pinching, or rubbing their chest. 2) Perform rescue breathing by clearing the airway, listening for breathing, and giving two slow breaths while watching for the chest to rise. 3) Continue rescue breathing until the person starts breathing on their own or emergency help arrives. Proper response is critical for saving someone's life during an overdose.

Calwell zero energy homes talk in san diego
Chris Calwell gave a talk on sharply reducing residential greenhouse gas emissions. He discussed how increasing carbon emissions lead to rising CO2 concentrations and global temperatures. It will be expensive and slow to convert energy infrastructure away from CO2 emitting sources. We face a near-term limit on absolute energy consumption. Improving efficiency has had some success but plug loads are soaring. We need to track all factors that drive emissions upward for homes and consumer products like population, acquisitiveness, luxury, usage, carbon intensity, efficiency, manufacturing, and durability. More homes are using solar energy each year but we must go beyond current efficiency standards like ENERGY STAR to achieve deeper reductions.

Genesis of Key Negotiation Points for the Least Developed Countries Climate Action Network South Asia

Minnesota Brightfields Study Results
In 2019, the Minnesota Legislature allocated funding to the Environmental Quality Board to study the potential for solar development on Minnesota’s Closed Landfill Program sites. Solar development on these sites would put underutilized, contaminated land to use generating clean energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and creating jobs and revenue. Siting solar on brownfields like closed landfills—called "brightfield" development—can also reduce development pressure on other lands, such as farmland and natural areas. The Environmental Quality Board delivered a report to the legislature in December 2020, and data about Closed Landfills Program sites is now available.
Pathways to Electric Vehicle Adoption Event
This document provides an overview of a workshop on pathways to electric vehicle adoption held in Moorhead, MN on May 15, 2019. The workshop included presentations on the current status of EVs in the market, available makes and models, dealing with dealers, adoption trends, range concerns, winter driving tips, and charging infrastructure. Solar Plus Storage at Hartley Nature Center in Duluth, MN
On Tuesday, December 5th nearly 30 hardy Minnesotans ventured out on one of the first really cold days of the season to join Northeast Clean Energy Resource Team (NE CERT) to learn about Hartley Nature Center’s solar plus battery storage project. While solar and storage are frequently discussed, there are few examples up and running in Minnesota that one can actually visit and learn from. Not only that, there are even fewer such systems that are done as retrofits to older solar arrays. Hartley’s project is an excellent example of both!

NRRI Presentation on Biomass and Deployable Housing
The NRRI Coleraine Laboratory was originally a US Steel research facility and now supports research at the University of Minnesota. It has engineering expertise in areas like mineral processing and pyrometallurgy. The lab contains various facilities for chemical analysis, mineral characterization, and processing tests from bench to pilot scale. In recent years it has expanded its capabilities to include alternative fuels research like biomass characterization. A new project aims to develop and demonstrate a technology for efficiently producing electricity from locally available biomass resources in Minnesota to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and utilize the state's forest resources.

As artificial intelligence inference transitions from cloud environments to edge locations, computer vision applications achieve heightened responsiveness, reliability and privacy. This migration, however, introduces the challenge of operating within the stringent confines of resource constraints typical at the edge, including small form factors, low energy budgets and diminished memory and computational capacities. Axelera AI addresses these challenges through an innovative approach of performing digital computations within memory itself. This technique facilitates the realization of high-performance, energy-efficient and cost-effective computer vision capabilities at the thin and thick edge, extending the frontier of what is achievable with current technologies.
In this presentation, Verhoef unveils his company’s pioneering chip technology and demonstrates its capacity to deliver exceptional frames-per-second performance across a range of standard computer vision networks typical of applications in security, surveillance and the industrial sector. The first topic is CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures). I have published CVEs many times. But what exactly is a CVE? I'll provide a basic understanding of CVEs and explain how to detect and handle vulnerabilities in OSS.
Next, let's discuss package managers. Package managers play a critical role in the OSS ecosystem. I'll explain how to manage library dependencies in your application.
I'll share insights into how the Ruby and RubyGems core team works to keep our ecosystem safe. By the end of this talk, you'll have a better understanding of how to safeguard your code.
Apps Break Data
How information systems are built or acquired puts information, which is what they should be about, in a secondary place. Our language adapted accordingly, and we no longer talk about information systems but applications. Applications evolved in a way to break data into diverse fragments, tightly coupled with applications and expensive to integrate. The result is technical debt, which is re-paid by taking even bigger "loans", resulting in an ever-increasing technical debt. Software engineering and procurement practices work in sync with market forces to maintain this trend. This talk demonstrates how natural this situation is. The question is: can something be done to reverse the trend?

Temporal Event Neural Networks (TENNs), developed by BrainChip, represent a novel and highly efficient state-space network. TENNs demonstrate exceptional proficiency in handling multi-dimensional streaming data, facilitating advancements in object detection, action recognition, speech enhancement and language model/sequence generation. Through the utilization of polynomial-based continuous convolutions, TENNs streamline models, expedite training processes and significantly diminish memory requirements, achieving notable reductions of up to 50x in parameters and 5,000x in energy consumption compared to prevailing methodologies like transformers.
