A man had been unable to walk for 38 years and would wait at the Pool of Bethesda, hoping to be the first person in the water after an angel stirred it, as this was believed to heal whoever entered first. When Jesus saw the man, he told him to get up, pick up his mat, and walk, which the man did, able to walk for the first time in 38 years. Though the man forgot to thank Jesus in his joy, he was deeply grateful to be healed after so long.

Jesus Heals a Demon-Possessed Man
Jesus heals a demon-possessed man in an area where Gerasene people lived. When Jesus encounters the man, he is living among tombs and under the control of an evil spirit called Legion. Jesus commands the evil spirit to leave the man, and it instead enters a herd of pigs. The pigs then rush into a lake and drown, astonishing the townspeople. The man is healed and clothed, and wants to follow Jesus, but is told to instead return home and share what happened.

Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. - 1. “A Healing at the Pool Of Bethesda.” John 5:1-9 Presented By: Chaira P. Anicete
- 2. Jesus went up to Jerusalem to observe a feast of the Jews. He was at a pool by the Sheep Gate. The Hebrew name for the pool was Bethesda and there were five porches around the pool. Some writings say that at a certain times an angel would come down and stir up the water. Then the first person to get into the pool after the water was stirred would be healed of whatever disease the person had. So people would wait there by the pool for the stirring of water, some were blind, some were lame, and some were paralyzed, not able to move.
- 3. One of the people at the pool that day was a man who had not been able to walk for thirty-eight years. Jesus saw him there and knew of his condition. He asked the man if he wanted to be healed. “Of course”, he said “but there is no one that would like to help me to get into the pool. When the water is stirred, someone would get down into the pool before I had a chance to get there.” So, Jesus told him to get up, then take up his bed that he was lying on, and walk! And the man just follow as what Jesus said to him, so he pick up his bed that he was lying on for thirty-eight years and he walked!
- 4. And at last after 38 years, he walked again. And he was rejoicing and forgot to thank Jesus but deep inside he really would like to thank Jesus, so Jesus walked away into the crowd of people before the man had a chance to even thank him.
