John Carpenter is an American film director, screenwriter, producer, editor and composer best known for horror films. The document discusses three of Carpenter's films - The Thing (1982) about alien invasion of Antarctic researchers, Big Trouble in Little China (1986) a comedy action film set in Chinatown, and his use of suspense through camera work, lighting and music rather than gore in early films like The Fog. Carpenter created atmospheres that left audiences unsure of the outcomes and used landscape shots to show humanity's smallness. His films crossed genres and attracted cult followings on re-release.

56 Movies That Are Considered To Be Almost Flawless.pptxJack Codd
Writing, shooting, editing, and releasing a feature-length film is an incredibly complicated and strenuous process. There are so many moving parts that there’s no guarantee that the movie will translate to the audience or turn out the way it was envisioned. Because of this, movies can range from absolutely terrible to unbelievable works of art. The best of the best are those that had the perfect team working on it, evoke emotion, and executed their vision. These are some of those films.

f you offer a service on the web, odds are that someone will abuse it. Be it an API, a SaaS, a PaaS, or even a static website, someone somewhere will try to figure out a way to use it to their own needs. In this talk we'll compare measures that are effective against static attackers and how to battle a dynamic attacker who adapts to your counter-measures.

1. John Carpenter
- film director..
John Howard Carpenter is an
American film director,
screenwriter, producer, editor
and composer. Although
Carpenter has worked in
numerous film genres, he is most
commonly associated with horror
2. The Thing
The thing was a film made in 1982 made by john
carpenter, was a story about alien evasion. This
was a popular theme in the 1980’s. it was a bout a
group of polar explorer and scientists doing
research. They stumbled across an old space craft
which was submerged and frozen in the ice. In
this film john carpenter used lots of wide
establishing shots to show the vastness of the
landscape and how insignificant man is against
this back drop. He created a very terrifying
atmosphere, and dilemma on how this organism
would overtake the earth. The audience is
convinced that the scientist and our hero will
loose the end. The ending is a suspense of have
they killed the “thing” or has it infected them and
will it spread?.
3. Big Trouble in little
china
This is a comedy ghost story based around
chin ease ghosts in china town. In
America. With lots of action and kung-fu.
This meant that the film crossed over
several genres and attracted a wide
audience and also a colt following. This is
indicative of john carpenter who was very
talented and serious but mixed in with not
being scared of the almost ridiculous. This
film created was a huge success but more
so on re – release where the colt following
encouraged larger and larger audience,
and it successfully transferred to video
and streaming.
4. Suspense
John carpenter films always have a strong
musical or theme associated. Carpenter
created taut suspense by his camera work and
sound in mise en scene. He rarely relied on
gore. In his later film In these slasher era
he created some more gory films, but his
initial films created suspense through his
story telling, camera work and lighting. A
classic example of his early work was “the
fog” where drifting fog created such a
expense. Every time it appeared the audience
knew that something dreadful was going to
happen. He used the fog to create mood and
then his characters would appear to make it
more intense and scary.
