Stage IV Thoracic Neuroblastoma (Morning Report)
This 3-year-old male presented with weight loss, chest and leg pain for 3 months. Imaging showed an extensive metastatic neuroblastoma. Biopsy of a chest mass confirmed poorly differentiated neuroblastoma. The patient began induction chemotherapy and supportive care. Prognostic factors including age, tumor histology, MYCN status and staging indicated a high-risk neuroblastoma requiring aggressive multimodal therapy.

Spivak
Dr. Marla Spivak discussed the importance of bees for pollinating crops in the US worth over $18.9 billion annually. She explained that bees require flowers for pollen and nectar, water, and that their health can be impacted by parasites, viruses, poor nutrition, pesticides, and gut pathogens. Her research looks at colony collapse disorder and how neonicotinyl pesticides and pathogen interactions may contribute, as well as breeding bees and landscape effects on bee nutrition. She encourages planting flowers, reducing pesticide use, and roadside plantings to help pollinators.
Quinn
The World Food Prize Foundation works to recognize outstanding individuals who have improved the quality, quantity or availability of food in the world. The Foundation's president, Ambassador Kenneth Quinn, oversees the organization and its annual World Food Prize award ceremony and symposium. The event brings together hundreds of leaders each year to discuss successful approaches to reducing world hunger.
Immigrants: Resource for Minnesota's Economy
Immigrants contribute significantly to Minnesota's economy in three main ways: as workers, entrepreneurs, and consumers. Immigrant workers make up the majority of the state's labor force growth and occupy important roles in industries like manufacturing, agriculture, and healthcare. Immigrant-owned businesses are also growing rapidly and revitalizing many downtown and neighborhood economies. Additionally, immigrant communities collectively spend billions of dollars and support thousands of jobs through their consumer spending each year. Maintaining immigration flows will be important for Minnesota's economic future as the state's native-born workforce declines and ages.
