This document summarizes a qualitative study on the assimilation, perception, and relationships of Chinese immigrants in Accra, Ghana. There has been an influx of Chinese temporary labor migrants and entrepreneurial migrants due to increasing economic relationships between China and Africa. The study found that overall assimilation of Chinese immigrants in Ghana is very low, and assimilation patterns vary between occupational groups. While some Chinese have positive attitudes towards Ghanaians, in general perceptions are negative. Relationships between the two groups include both friendship and tension due to issues like unfair competition and discrimination.
