- Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a major public health issue that affects millions of individuals annually in the United States. IPV has significant health impacts and is associated with numerous health conditions. It also places a large economic burden on the healthcare system and society.
- Screening for and addressing IPV is an essential part of public health practice. Public health agencies can play an important role in IPV prevention through partnerships, screening protocols, training, community education, and policy work. Assessing clients for IPV is an intervention itself that can help prevent further violence and improve health outcomes.

Harm Reduction acknowledges that drug use occurs and is potentially damaging, and attempts
to reduce and prevent these harms in ways, which are pragmatic and humanistic. Although the
harm reduction approach and specific harm reduction interventions (including needle and
syringe programmed and methadone programmed) have been implemented with resounding
success internationally (including in a number of African countries) for more than 20 years, the
South African approach to substance use and substance-related harms is still largely informed
by the doctrine and strategies of the "War on Drugs", and focuses almost exclusively on
prohibition and punishment. Because of the strong link between drug use and poverty, different
policy approaches to poverty and homelessness must also be considered. My talk will critically
examine these two approaches to drug use, poverty, and displacement (support or punish), as
they are being implemented in Cape Town. Opportunity for discussion will be provided.
Alcohol Forum National Conference 2014

HIV/AIDS has been serious public health issue facing the city of Philadelphia for the last two decades. According the AIDS Activities Coordinating Office, there are approximately 30,000 individuals living with HIV/AIDS in Philadelphia (AACO, 2012). This average is slightly higher than other major cities in the United States. AACO states the most vulnerable population is young men who have sex with men of color (MSM) between the ages of 15 and 25. This young population makes up for 56% of all new diagnosis of in the city (AACO, 2012). It is imperative for Philadelphia Fight to stay innovative with their approach to tackling sexual health issues that face this city. One major way Philadelphia Fight is addressing is epidemic is through opening the Youth Health Empowerment Project (Y-HEP). Recommended

Introduction
Elder abuse is the intentional action that infringes harm or develops a fatal risk of harm. It is as well the failure by the caregivers to meet the elder’s basic needs or to safeguard the elder from harm. There has been limited research that has been conducted on elder abuse (Daly, Merchant & Jogerst, 2016). This study will major on elder abuse as well as the different ways that can be used to handle elder abuse.
Methods
To identify the current status as well as quality of elder abuse study, a well-detailed research of health science literature was carried out and every article was graded. All literature searches were carried out from the inception of every index through March 10, 2014 (Daly, Merchant & Jogerst, 2016).
Results
The majority of the elderly have suffered from abuse. In a period of 10 months, 40 cases, 51% had been physically abused, 10% had hearing as well as visual impairment and 41% were physically abused (Daly, Merchant & Jogerst, 2016). The most common form of abuse among these individuals was physical, psychological as well as material abuse.
Discussion
Based on the study, elder abuse is a worldwide public health as well as human right issue and the abuse of old individuals are related to inappropriate health outcomes from minor injuries to disabilities, long-lasting psychological issues, suicide, and maximized risk of being hospitalized (Daly, Merchant & Jogerst, 2016). Elderly abuse can be handled through counseling, adult day care programs, educating people on how to recognize and report elder abuse, and listening to the older people and their caregivers to understand their challenges and give support.
Conclusion
The older adult population is increasing at a high rate in the U.S. in comparison to the younger people. many older individuals need care and are vulnerable to violence from their caregivers.

County population with racial and gender breakdowns
As of July 1, 2015 estimates, the County population was 22, 267 individuals. Of this, 51.7% were Females, while as the males were 48.3%. The white people were 96.5%, the African Americans were 1.0%, the American Indian and Alaska Natives were 0.5%, Asians were 0.7%, Hispanics were 3.2%, and people with two or more races present accounted for 1.3%.
Number of Senior Citizens
The number of senior citizens was 32.5%.
Number of Disabled Individuals
The number of disabled individuals under the age of 65 was 13.9%.
Number of Children
The number of children was 16.1%.
Of the populations above, I choose the senior citizens. The first health concern for this population is elder abuse. At this age, this people are not able to actively take care of themselves like they would a while back. For this reason, they constantly required to be taken care of, in almost all the aspects of their lives. However, elder abuse is a common occurrence in which, the caregivers neglect this population so much, to the extent of some of them even dying. It is such a shame that such a thing might happen to such a delicate population. A second health concern for this population, is the risk of heath disease and other chronic diseases. According to the Centre for Disease Control (CDC), heart disease is one of the leading killers for the senior citizens because at this age, they are delicate and their hearts are very weak (Motooka et al., 2006).
The senior citizens require a number of community health interventions and public policies, which are aimed at ensuring they lead a comfortable life. For instance, they should have access to caregivers when they cannot adequately take care of themselves (Takano, 2002). In addition, they should have access to proper diets, and they should be provided with as much assistance as possible when they are at home and in public places. They should also have regular medical check-ups, to ascertain their health conditions, as well as have access to a hospital and a personal doctor in case they need consultation before their regular sessions (Anderson, 2003). Regular exercises is also good for ensuring their lives are going on smoothly.
