This document discusses the nature and scope of research management from different perspectives. It provides examples of how research can help answer questions from an individual's point of view by recommending movies, bikes, or colleges. It also shows how research helps companies by answering questions about advertising, new products, hiring, customer satisfaction, and performance impact. Research can also help society by answering questions about policies, industrialization effects, and poverty factors. The document notes that curiosity and problems are what drive the need for research. It then outlines the main types of research: basic research and applied research. Finally, it lists the top 10 companies and countries by research and development spending.
This document discusses how to design for "what doesn't exist yet" through human-centered design and seeking future needs. It proposes focusing on "tribes" of extreme or non-normal users who may indicate future changes. A process called "Future SEEking Program" is presented to help companies explore new opportunities from viewpoints outside their normal frames of reference in order to identify "signs" of emerging issues. The goal is to foster a more innovation-friendly culture within companies.
Business Models for Prevention: "An ounce of prevention..."Paul Hudnut
This document discusses business models focused on prevention to address global health challenges. It provides examples of prevention-based business models like Inviragen, which develops vaccines, and Envirofit, which produces low-cost cookstoves. The document encourages designing business models using tools like the Business Model Canvas to prototype ideas and get customer feedback through testing. The overall message is that business model innovation can help tackle issues like disease and pollution through ventures focused on prevention rather than cure.

Deforestation is the cutting down and removal of trees in a forested area which can erode soils, contribute to desertification and pollution of waterways, and decrease biodiversity by destroying habitats. It causes climate changes by reducing the forests' ability to absorb carbon dioxide. Many animals die from losing their habitats and species disappear when their forest homes are destroyed and unique habitats are removed from the Earth.

Motivation is the fire in your engine. Sales is the transfer of motivation from one person to another. Without that fire, you can't make yourself move in any direction - let alone help someone else get moving. If you're not getting your motivation from somewhere else, that's called vision. If you can sell that vision effectively, they will call you a leader. If you lead well, you will succeed. But it all comes back to the source of your motivation.

Evaluation of Organizational Structure
Introduction
Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne founded Apple Computers on April 1, 1976. (Time Magazine, n.d.) Since its inception, Apple has become one of the world’s largest producers of consumer electronics, personal computers, servers, software and is a distributor of media content. Today we will review the company’s current organizational structure and its effectiveness and ineffectiveness in the structure. We will also review possible changes that would benefit the company to make to its current structure more effective in the current competitive market for its leadership team.
Current Organizational Structure
Since the days of Steve Jobs; the company has gone through some changes to its organizational structure. When Steve Jobs was running his company, he made every decision; but now the company uses a more collective approach with its company. The company is using a modern structural approach to its managing and leadership style by putting teams in control of what happens.
The current mission statement is “"Apple designs Macs, the best personal computers in the world, along with OS X, ILife, iWork and professional software. Apple leads the digital music revolution with its iPods and iTunes online store. Apple has reinvented the mobile phone with its revolutionary iPhone and App Store, and has recently introduced iPad 2 which is defining the future of mobile media and computing devices.” (Farfan, 2016). This is a mix of both a mission statement and a vision of what the company wants to see.
By using an approach of a modern structure of having the company ran by the departments and employees versus by a company leader such as the CEO, the company feels that they can accomplish their goals and ideas with the least amount of buy-in needed from the Board of directors or CEO. The teams and departments can set their own guidelines of how quickly their projects will run which in turn leads to having products and services available more quickly to consumers for purchase. The employees are more productive in this type of environment for the company because they are also able to focus solely on their job functions while not have to worry about other departments.
Organizational Metrics
The takeaways of Apples’ Mission and Vision Statements by CEO Tim Cook easily define the metrics that Apple follows. “We believe that we are on the face of the earth to make great products and that’s not changing. We are constantly focusing on innovating. We believe in the simple not the complex. We believe that we need to own and control the primary technologies behind the products that we make, and participate only in markets where we can make a significant contribution. We believe in saying no to thousands of projects, so that we can really focus on the few that are truly important and meaningful to us. We believe in deep collaboration and cross-pollination of our groups, which allow us to innovate in a way tha ...

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT 5
The Organization:
Apple Inc. is a name of success. It is one of four biggest technology firms in the world along with Microsoft, Facebook and Google. Apple international is located in California, United States. It is known for creating, developing, designing and selling consumer electronic products. These products include smartphones, iPhone, tablet computers: iPad tablets, personal computers: Mac, portable media player: iPod, smartwatch; Apple Watch, digital media player: Apple Tv, wireless earbuds; Air pods and smart speaker: Homepod. Apple has established a competitive edge over its competitors because of its unique operating system (Chen, 2014).
History of Organization:
The foundation of Apple was laid down by three innovative leaders of the 20th century: Steve Wozniak, Ronald Wayne, and Steve Jobs. Apple started in 1976 and sold their first line of personal computers. Their first batch was prepared in just 12 days. They received very positive response and their first batch was declared a success instantly, so they decided to move ahead and lay down the origin of their firm. This is how “Apple Inc.” came into existence in 1977. For years to come they expanded their operations by adding more and more products and services in their product line. The firm listed itself on the stock exchange in 1980 going public. Apple charged premium prices from the start which raised a lot of questions because rival firms were charging less. This turned out to be a great strategy as the firm equated the premium prices with premium quality.
Current Business:
Apple Inc. started its operation by selling personal computers in 1977 but today the product line is very diverse. The document discusses the importance of customer-driven design and building products based on customer feedback. It explains that most new products fail because they do not meet customer needs or solve real problems. An MVP or minimum viable product is released to test the market and learn what customers want through questions and iterative design. Customer feedback should be integrated into products at each stage of development and used to continually improve the customer experience.

The Significance of Software Development Emmanuel Palle.pptxLode Emmanuel Palle
Why do you use software development? Well, this is done for one major reason, and that is to give value and development to the user's needs. The basic fundamental lies in the fact that the user needs and requirements or marketing objectives have to be met or converted into a good software application. So, what software development does is it allows the end user to do the task he or she wishes to do it. It is used to do all functions according to the need. What has occurred so far, and what we have learned from it, is that the demand for software development will continue, and these needs might also increase as the market develops.
Research and Development is the most important and functional part of the whole business organization which helps in deciding the considerable objectives, finding ways to accomplish them and taking future decisions for overall business growth.

2. Jeff Stauring was trained early in his career to
succeed through continuous improvement. He
offers the same progressive and modern
ideals to every business he coaches. Jeff says
that the key to success for all enterprises is to
continuously improve upon products or
services. He reinforces continuous
improvement because it is what keeps
businesses in profit and results in new and
improved products.
3. To illustrate the concept clearly, he offers the
example of products like cell phones, iPods,
or laptops, which were all developed and
then improved over the years. Continuous
improvement not only results in new products
but more importantly it leads to reduced costs
therefore making products more affordable.
Product affordability results in higher
standards of living as well as satisfaction for
the end user.
4. He further says that one only needs to look at
some of the most successful people in the
world and the one common theme to their
success would be continuous improvement.
Think about the most successful business
people in the world such as Henry Ford,
Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Jack Welch, and
Richard Branson. Think about the most
successful performers in the world Cher,
Elton John, Billie Joel, and The Rolling
Stones. Think about the most successful
athletes in the world Mohammad Ali, Michael
Phelps, and Serena, Venus Williams.
5. As Director of Transportation for Collier Public
Schools, Jeff Stauring delivered significant
cost savings through continuous improvement.
In 2007/2008 total transportation costs were
$23,569,091. Jeff focused on continuous
improvement and in 2008/2009 total
transportation costs were $17,228,682 or over
$6,000,000 better. Through further continuous
improvement in 2009/2010 total transportation
costs were $17,061,554. Through continuous
improvement Jeff Stauring reduced costs by
$6,340,409.
