Jeff Pierre is a talented Haitian performer who has been playing traditional Haitian percussion since age three under the instruction of eminent drummers at the Jaka Institute of Dance in Haiti, where his mother Florencia Pierre is a well-known founder and director. By age 15, Jeff had become the lead drummer for his mother's dance company, Jaka, performing for classes and shows in Haiti and overseas. After moving to the US for high school, Jeff studied at a school of the arts and played in jazz and Latin bands while continuing to teach percussion privately and in summer camps. Jeff Pierre, born and raised in Haiti, is a young and talented performer specializing in Haitian traditional Music. He’s been playing traditional Haitian percussions since the age of three with the most eminent drummers in Jaka Institute de danse in Haiti. JAKA is a Traditional dance and drumming company founded by his mother Florencia Pierre who is well known for her beautiful work in the Art community in Haiti. At the age of 15teen He became the lead drummer at his mother’s dance company Jaka where he played for the dance classes and also for the performances in Haiti and in the overseas. Since then he has been traveling with performing arts companies being really young. His passion for the Music is a really big part of his life as a way of expressing himself to the world.
When he moved in the U.S, he studied at the school of the arts for 2 years and was part of the jazz and Latin band. He became the lead drummer of Afoutayi which is a Haitian traditional Arts, Music and Dance company performing at schools, and public events. He taught private percussion lessons to friends while he was in High school then started teaching in summer camps with kids. Being a member of Afoutayi, he went out teaching teenagers and adults in workshops.
The Music for Jeff is an element of happiness and healing. When he touches the drum he feels alive and harmonious with the universe.
