ACCESS provides food, warmth, shelter, and other essential services to Jackson County's low-income children, families, seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities. As the Community Action Agency of Jackson County, Oregon, ACCESS has been helping residents break the cycle of poverty since 1976. Last year, 52,497 people received assistance from ACCESS's broad continuum of services, including obtaining safe, affordable housing, rental assistance, utility assistance, weatherization, free loaned durable medical equipment, and healthy food.
Daughters of Destiny Enterprises, Inc. is a 501c3 Not for Profit Organization whose mission is to empower and sustain the local and Global Communities through providing a multi-consortium of over 100 Social Services, such as, Disaster Relief Programs, The Rehabilitation and Construction of Veterans Homes, Client Choice Food Pantries, Soup Kitchens, Diaper Banks, The delivery of healthy and nutritious food to those who are at-risk and homebound, and multiple Community Giveaway throughout the year, Educational Conferences, Financial Literacy Programs and also Job Training and Job resource programs.

The Sisters of Charity of New York run a volunteer program for women ages 18-25 every summer in New York City. A participant of the 2011 program created this presentation about her experience.
This year, GolinHarris celebrated its fifth annual worldwide community service initiative, Al’s Day. The day honors founder and chairman Al Golin’s dedication to community service and is held each year on, or around, Al’s birthday on June 19.
Offices around the world celebrated Al’s Day by participating in activities ranging from volunteering at Café 458 in Atlanta to feed the homeless; to working with Little People, an international NGO providing care for children and young people affected by cancer in Bucharest; to painting murals and helping the Ashburn Community Elementary School in Chicago prepare for the new school year; to spending the day with the kids at Manzil Special Needs School in Dubai; to volunteering with client Ronald McDonald House Charities in Shanghai.

In a May 9, 2024 paper, Juri Opitz from the University of Zurich, along with Shira Wein and Nathan Schneider form Georgetown University, discussed the importance of linguistic expertise in natural language processing (NLP) in an era dominated by large language models (LLMs).
The authors explained that while machine translation (MT) previously relied heavily on linguists, the landscape has shifted. “Linguistics is no longer front and center in the way we build NLP systems,” they said. With the emergence of LLMs, which can generate fluent text without the need for specialized modules to handle grammar or semantic coherence, the need for linguistic expertise in NLP is being questioned.
