●Byte code is a highly optimized set of
instructions designed to be executed by the Java
run-time system, which is called the Java
Virtual Machine (JVM).
● JVM is an Interpreter for Byte code.
●Each bytecode is composed of one, or in some
cases two bytes that represent the instruction
(opcode), along with zero or more bytes for
passing parameters.

stores its state in variables. A variable is an

• Definition: A variable is an item of data named
by an identifier.
• A Variable may take different values at different
times during the execution if the program,
unlike the constants.
7. Types of Variable
There are three types of variables in java:
Local variable
A variable which is declared inside the
method is called local variable.
Instance variable
A variable which is declared inside the class
but outside the method, is called instance
variable . It is not declared as static.
Static variable
A variable that is declared as static is called
static variable. It cannot be local.
