Students at SCU Govt VHSS school participated in a common academic pledge on January 23rd led by Advocates A.M Sherif and N.B. Shibu. A painting competition was held where Krishnarag received an award from the school headmaster. Devananda and arya sree were also congratulated at the assembly. The 10th standard classroom was being renovated so classes were moved to the stage. Teachers Bibby miss and sangeetha miss observed classes on the 25th and provided further instruction. The Gandhi club practiced their drama for a competition on the 28th and received first prize with guidance from their daily teacher.

On January 18th, Sahaj Yoga club conducted an active yoga class for students led by Robert and Theeja from Germany. Many teachers also accompanied students to the Kannur Youth festival, where they wished the students the best for their competitions.
January second week at school
This week was eventful with schedule changes due to exams. Students had to attend free periods as teachers were busy. There was a student strike on Tuesday which led to early dismissal. Students distributed milk and conducted an awareness class on road safety with the help of officials. They also hosted a school induction program and taught yoga to younger students. Various guests visited the school for different activities and formalities.
First week at school
An eye vision test was conducted at SCUGVHSS school in Pattanakad for all students from the morning till evening. The test was sent by the health department and the school nurse Mrs. Jyothi assisted. Students were asked to wear an autorefractor and view an illuminated eyetest chart from 3 meters away.
A Students Dairy Club was started in Pattanakad block panchayath with 20 student members. The club was officially declared by the Food and Civil Supplies Minister Mr. P. Thilothaman. Mrs. Daisy devesya and Mrs. Dally francis were given charge of the club.

February 1st week
The 10th standard exam finished on Saturday. There was a discussion about a teacher's casual leave request. As part of their teaching practice ending, students provided evening snacks and tea to the staff. Two classrooms were being renovated so those students moved to the auditorium and another classroom, requiring two classes to combine. Students from grades 8 and 9 went on a one day tour. It was the last week of school for the students, so they said goodbye to the school, teachers, staff and students as they ended their teaching practice.
Awareness class on adolescent issues
The awareness class for 9th grade students covered important adolescent issues like sexual harassment, the impact of media, and drug abuse. The class was conducted by an excise trainer as part of a teacher education curriculum to develop critical thinking in students through discussion of their social realities. The class took place on January 13, 2017 from 2-4pm in the smart classroom at SCUGVHSS Patanakad school.
Fourth week at school
Students participated in an AIDS Day rally at their school where the headmistress delivered a speech on self-awareness. Floor maintenance was performed and many students practiced for an upcoming arts festival, specifically a skit. A mid-term exam took place over 5 days and students were given exam duties.
Third week at school
The Thuravoor sub-district sports meet was inaugurated over three days with 2000 students participating in events like short put, long jump, and javelin throw. The second day focused on events for higher secondary students and injured competitors received first aid. Food was provided to both students and teachers. The third day featured competitions for upper primary students and the school nurse was present. The sports meet concluded and students then practiced for the upcoming sub-district youth festival competitions in events like Oppana, Nadanpattu, and Vanchippattu.

of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
