Xcel Energy's Colorado fuel mix in 2009 relied on coal for 52% of its energy, but was projected to increase to 68% coal reliance by 2010. Xcel also projected future rate increases from 2015-2020 assuming flat coal prices and no carbon charges, with 2010 electricity rates estimated between 9-10 cents per kilowatt hour. According to Boulder's greenhouse gas inventory, a significant portion came from electricity use and its source.

Teeth whitening is a common cosmetic dental procedure that uses oxidizing agents like hydrogen peroxide to lighten tooth color. There are two main whitening methods - an in-office treatment that uses a high concentration of peroxide for a short time, or a take-home treatment involving wearing a low concentration of peroxide for several hours a day over 5 to 14 days. Both work by the peroxide entering the tooth structure and oxidizing internal stains. While whitening can significantly lighten many stains, some like tetracycline staining may be resistant and require prolonged treatment. Side effects can include temporary tooth sensitivity. Faded results may fade over time as well.
