Lifeskills Through Games is a pedagogical approach developed by Jambo Bukoba. Sports teachers in Tanzania teach the games to schoolchildren. Each game imparts a life skill like confidence, team building, cooperation, taking responsibility, trust, hygiene awareness and more.

1. PROBLEM-SOLVING
In On a Boat, an oval-shaped "pretend boat" is
created using a rope or by drawing with a stick
in the sand. Up to 20 participants stand into
the "boat" and have to solve different
problems, like arranging themselves by age or
size. The trick is to not fall off the boat and be
eaten by crocodiles.
TEAM BUILDING
In the game of Names Ball, participants stand in a
circle and say their name before throwing the ball
to someone else or, even more difficult, say the
name of the person they then throw the ball to. A
great approach for new team building.
FAIR PLAY
A Knee/Shoulder Fight doesn't hurt and it's a
great game for learning how to play fair with
opponents. Each participant fights by trying to
tap their opponent on the knee or shoulder with
their hands. First to reach 5 touches wins.
Players then shake hands on completion.
TRUST
Two participants stand one behind the other in the
game Trust Me. The child behind has to catch the
one in front as they fall slowly backwards. The
participant falling must learn to trust the catcher.
The catcher must be focused, take care and take
responsibility for their partner.
COOPERATION
In this game, known as Mirror, two children form a pair.
One moves and the other has to imitate or mirror their
exact movements. In this way, teamwork and co-
operation are encouraged. The more complicated the
movements, the funnier it is.
GENDER EQUALITY
In Partner Football, a match is played in
player pairs - in this case - male and
female. The pairs hold hands and work
together to play and score. This game
encourages mutual respect and
cooperation between genders.
