The Fulani Whip Match is a painful initiation for the boys, as you can already tell from the name
what this initiation consists of. Whips, the boys must find long tree branches and their father
helps them pick the branch that would have the most painful blow. The father then chooses the
stick and sharpens it in order to be able to make the biggest impact with each lash that they give
to their opponent and break the skin as well. Clans gather around from 50 miles around to watch
who is the bravest of the two. When the boys are ready and their whips are prepared for battle, a

In the poem How do I love thee? by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Browning asks how she loves
her beloved and goes on to list the ways in which she loves him. Her love is seen as eternal and
exists everywhere which brings to light the tone and styling of the poem and how it fits in the
movement it was written in. Elizabeth Barrett Browning was born in 1806 at Coxhoe Hall, Durham,
England. (Poetry Foundation) During the time of her writings, she was seen as one of the most
influential poets for the Romantic Movement. Romantics focused on nature, human feelings and
compassion, and rebelling for a cause, which Browning shows a lot of throughout her sonnet.
Browning was born in 1806 at Coxhoe Hall in Durham, England. She was a romantic writer but
it closely reflected the life she was living at the time. The oldest of twelve children, Elizabeth
was the first in her family born in England in over two hundred years. For centuries, the Barrett
family, who were part Creole, had lived in Jamaica, where they owned sugar plantations and

There are many parts of the eye which work in unison in order to detect certain stimuli. For
example, the photoreceptors are split into two categories; the rods and the cones (named due to the
shape of the cell). In the retina there are 120 million rods that help your eyes to adjust to dimly lit
images or, in other words, allow you to see better in dark places. They are also highly sensitive in
comparison to cones and have a slow recovery from working in such conditions.
In contrast, the cones are located in the fovea and, although there are less cones than rods (only 6
million), they take up the majority of the central fovea. The cones detect a very different stimulus
to the rods as their primary function is to detect different colours in the images observed by the
eyes. It does this by using a protein named photopsin whereas the rods use rhodopsin. The cones
also are also a lot less sensitive than the rods and have a shorter integration time (faster recovery
from conditions in which they are needed to work).

year. I was happy, my friends,my colleagues, my seniors everyone was happy because we were
