2. There is no detail information about distribution of Sunda
coucal and Black-winged Starling in Jakarta area
The latest information about Sunda coucal was in 1997
while for Black-winged Starling on 2001 for Java as general
Youth as the future leaders, it is critical to give them better
understanding with their environment by involving them in
field activities at early steps

3. Although this starling was common until recently, the paucity of
records in the field and the increasing rarity of individuals in
the cage-bird trade suggest that it has undergone an extremely
rapid decline over the past 13 years (three generations). As
such, this species qualifies as Critically Endangered, and
urgent conservation action is required to halt its unsustainable
exploitation for trade.
Sturnus melanopterus is endemic to the islands
of Java and Bali, Indonesia, also occurring on
adjacent Madura and Nusa Penida
The population is best placed in the band 1,000-
2,499 individuals. Surveys are urgently required
to accurately assess the global population size.

4. This species has a small population which is likely to be
undergoing a rapid decline owing to habitat destruction and
trapping. It is therefore classified as Vulnerable.
Centropus nigrorufus is endemic to Indonesia,
where it occurs on Java. It is locally common,
but rather sparsely distributed, although it may
be under-recorded. It can still be found in
suitable habitat right along the north Java coast.
The population size is preliminarily estimated to
fall into the band 2,500-9,999 mature individuals.
