My view on proofreading is not only should the grammar and spelling be correct, the typography is
equally important, as a very noted typographer told me in my youth “type is the fifth colour, if it doesn’t
sit well the ad won’t work!” Therefore I am very stringent on bad line endings, absolutely detest misuse
of hyphens and en rules but the biggest error of all machine quotes instead of speech marks!
Below is my employment for the last six years, second page is my complete history.
2011 – 2014 Publicis Chemistry
Chemistry had become Publicis Chemistry after a buyout, all existing work continued
plus the ongoing work from Publicis London – Renault, Airbus, Visa Card, Garnier etc.
During August 2012 Orange Telecoms launched EE, I played a major part in the launch
of all the printed material, press, DM and in-store retail point of sale as I had the
responsibility of ensuring the house style was followed throughout and a big involvement
in creating the house style. During this period six staff worked from one secure room
under NDA conditions.
2008 – 2011 Chemistry
Proofreader for all accounts, Orange/T-Mobile phones and Emirates Airline
being the major accounts, apart from proofreading I became very involved in
all things typographical.
