The Metropolitan Police is undertaking a project called IVMA to modernize the technology in police vehicles. The project aims to replace outdated mobile data terminals with new touchscreen devices that integrate a variety of applications. Some of the new features described include text-to-speech to read information aloud to drivers, ANPR cameras, speed detection, situational awareness tools, and high-resolution cameras on select vehicles. The new mobile offices will allow officers to send texts, images, book on and off shifts, access mapping and routing tools, check databases, and receive updated applications every few months to support their work.
New way to do Business for Load BrokersmyGeoTracking
A new way to do business for fleet managers and load brokers with innovative cloud-based technology. With myGeoTracking, fleet managers and dispatchers can view in real-time where all the drivers are located on their computer or smart phone app. They do not need to call the driver anymore to find out where they are. They can provide customer with accurate estimates of when they can expect their load to arrive.

Rethinking airports for future connected travelersKevin May
The future role of airports – the meeting grounds for airlines and travelers – is driven by unprecedented social and technological change.
Expect new levels and diversity of service, personalized travller experiences, universal availability of mobile connectivity and many changes in the airport as a merchandising environment.
In this webinar presented by Tnooz and Amadeus, we examine technology shaping the needs and expectations of airport visitors.
How will airline and airport operators engage with customers?
What strategies and business models enable airlines and airports to seize new opportunities for managing the total trip experience?
Our expert panel includes:
* Brian Beard, Amadeus, executive technology consultant
* Glenn Gruber, Ness Technologies, AVP travel technologies

There are plenty of startups keen to build a business out of Taxi Booking Apps. But is it really that easy ? With big players like Uber, Lyft & Easy Taxi already dominating the market, it’s quite difficult for a beginner to survive in this space. But of course there are still big opportunities waiting to be exploited which makes this place extremely lucrative for startups.
This presentation covers what goes into building a successful taxi app. Also, how just not to build an app but how to build a successful business which creates value.
A presentation that outlines answer to the following questions: What makes passengers feel good about flying? What can aviation learn from other business sectors? What are innovative onboard products and services that show the way the cabin experience will evolve?
The march of the IoT - Maurice Jenkins, Miami International AirportSITA
Stand by for the revolution. Everyone’s talking about the Internet of Things, and while there’s clearly much more to it than hype, a lot of serious questions still need to be addressed. What impact can we expect on the workings of the air transport industry and the lives of our passengers? What technologies and innovations will make the difference? What opportunities can we start exploiting now and further down the road? How will the IoT play out on board, as we learn more about connected aircraft? And what other use cases exist in our industry?
Smarter at every step - the mega-trends: Cobus McQuirk, South African AirwaysSITA
Tomorrow’s journey will be smarter, and technology and innovation will continue their increasingly critical role in creating it. To get there, our industry must focus on those mega-trends and technologies that will deliver better insights into our passengers and operations, improve ‘life on the go’ and enable better passenger relationships and operational efficiencies. As we look to technologies like predictive analytics, the next wave of personal mobile, the Internet of Things and smarter systems, what roles do our industry leaders see them playing? What value might we expect them to deliver to our airlines and airports? How can we embrace and adapt to these trends, and at what speed?

The purpose of a good developer portal experience is creating great projects. This session will explore how clear documentation and functional examples can enable a developer endeavoring to use location bases services to easily integrate components to make their application shine. Explored will be a use case of mapping for electric vehicles. Long distance (multi stop_ trip routing with Electric Vehicles serves as a good example of how developers can incorporate a location-based services APIs into a topically relevant project. This session will focus on a developer’s experience using applicable Maps and Routing APIs, and how these can aid in trip planning charge times, locations, and along-the-route wayfinding for EV drivers.

A summary of a talk at CPPA-2018 by Luc Tengueu: Urbanization, the emergence of Transportation Network Companies (TNCs) such as Uber and Lyft, and increased bicycle, pedestrian traffic are all putting pressure on city infrastructures. Because there is increasingly less real estate available for road expansion, the curb is quickly becoming a strategic asset for many entities such as cities, airports, hotels, public venues and universities.
Sensors gather minute bits of data that are valuable when aggregated and processed to extract intelligence. A whole new generation of business solutions are emerging from the data gathered from M2M.
Today, vehicles are emerged with new technologies and deployed with numbers of software applications. Checking
reliability of these software applications is very challenging. The applications can be updated, diagnosed and tested remotely on
road which makes the job of vehicle user easy and convenient. For vehicle communication, Vehicular Ah-hoc Networks
(VANET) is used which is application of Ad-hoc Network. This paper gives brief overview about VANETS and cloud
computing and also discusses the wide research work going on this domain.
