The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a network of national standards institutes from 162 countries that develops and publishes international standards. ISO has developed over 18,500 standards covering many topics. ISO's most well-known standards are the ISO 9000 quality management standards and ISO 14000 environmental management standards, which are implemented by over a million organizations in 175 countries. The ISO 9000 standards provide guidance for companies to ensure their products and services consistently meet customer requirements through quality management practices like customer focus, leadership, employee involvement, and continual improvement.
