3. Alessandro di mariano di vanni filiepi
aka
sandro botticelli
Sandro Botticelli is an early Italian Renaissance artist.
He originally started as a goldsmith, though
that apprenticeship did not last long.
Shortly after beginning his training there,
he was apprenticed to an artist.
(an example, not Botticelli’s work)
He opened up his own artist workshop
in 1470.

4. Just a treat of a few of his most famous pieces:
Adoration of the
Magi
1476
Primavera
1482
6. Leonardo di ser piero da vinci
Da Vinci was lucky enough to start as an art
apprentice right off the bat. By the age of 20, he
was already being asked to join the Painter’s Guild
of Florence.
Da Vinci wasn’t just an artist though, sketches have
been found of inventions he thought of (but mostly
never created), his thoughts of
philosophy… he was
a jack of all trades.

7. Some of da Vinci’s best known works:
The Baptism of Christ
1475

and of course,
The Mona Lisa, 1517
9. Michelangelo di lodovico
buonarroti simoni
Michelangelo is another of the heavy hitter
artists during the Italian Renaissance. And he
accomplished a great deal due to his long life!
Michelangelo was originally
trained first as a sculptor, but
he proved his worth as an artist
in no time!
10. Some of Michelangelo’s greatest achievements:
Pietà, 1499
David,
1504
Battle of Cascina
1504
12. Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino
aka
raphael
Raphael was born in 1483 in Urbino. It didn’t
take long for him to pick up a brush though,
and by late 1500, he was already
considered a master painter
himself.
13. Highlights of Raphael’s career include:
The School of
Athens, 1511
(fresco)
The Sistin Madonna
1514
14. The Fire in the Bongo
1514 (fresco)
St. Michael Trampling
The Dragon, 1518
15. Tiziano vecellio
aka
titian
Titian is another of our great artists who lived a
very long life. He had his hand in painting and
sculpting, but he seemed more a family man
than the other artists, so once he set down roots
in Venice, he pretty well stayed
in Venice.
16. Salome with the Head of
John the Baptist, c. 1515
Bacchus
and
Ariadne,
c. 1523
Equestrian Portrait of
Charles V, 1548
