Full Day School is not the best choice according to the speaker. While it aims to advance education, it could negatively impact students' lives in several ways. It would limit students' experiences outside of school, hindering their growth. It does not fit with Balinese traditions of community involvement. The long school day could burden parents with increased costs and reduce students' ability to help their families. Before implementing Full Day School, the government needs to carefully consider how it may disadvantage students and their lives outside of the classroom.

First I would like to express my grateful to almighty God for his grace today so we can gather
here together.Ladiesand Gentleman,inthisopportunity I would like to share my though based on the
theme given to me it is about Full Day School, I titled this “It Is Not the Best Choice for Me”.
“Full Day School.”WhenIfirstlyheardthisstatementfromourEducationMinisterIwas thinking
very hard. Is that meant I should stay at school for almost a day? It is bad. Full Day School system
become viral inoursocietysince itwasstatedby our EducationMinister.IsFull DaySchool really a good
alternative to advance our Education system? The answer is “Maybe Yes, Maybe No”. Let’s we talk it
deeper.
In mypointof viewFull DaySchool will justmake us grow to be close-minded person. Why? As
we should stay a day long at school every day it shortens our time to joining other community out of
school.We will stayinthe box forever,ourconnectionwill be limitedtojustinschool environment. It is
not a good choice for us that have so many things we interest to know. All youngster should be given
chance to thinkout of box,learneverythingtheywant,choose something they like, do something they
love. As Indonesian proverb says, “Like a frog trapped inside a coconut shell means no experience”.
That is what we are going to be. FDS also doesn’t pitch our tradition. As we are Balinese we have so
many traditions to do. The most important one is called “Menyama Braya”. It means we should help
each otherinour society,joineveryactivity,whetheritisat our livingenvironment,or atour village.We
cannot deny this tradition for just staying at school for a day full. Of course school is the best and safe
place to getknowledge,but,isknowledge justcome fromlearningatschool?No,I disagree. Knowledge
comesfromso many sources.Everysocietyandenvironmentgivesusnew knowledgetolearn.Whether
it isbad or not itdependsonus. How we catch it and how we think it. It is pieces of part that we called
learn. Learn means we understand something from every aspect and different point of view.
Full Day School might be a good system to implement. But in reality it will be different. The
success rate of the implementation depends on so many factors. I imagined if Full Day School’s
additional hoursisusedtodo special subjectorextra-curriculareveryday. Ourproblemwill be facilities;
facilitiescause the additionalcostlower orhigher.Forexample we have basketball forMonday,football
for Tuesday,andbadmintonforWednesday and others in next days but our school doesn’t have those
facilitiessuchasbasketball field.We have tomove toanother place or rent facilities it will increase the
cost of our provisions for a day. This will not help our parents, but burden them into bankruptcy.
The second problemisstudents.Studentsoftengetboredif theystayat school for a day long. If
theystay fora daylong at school I am afraid it will impact their mood. Students will become easily get
mad whentheygetsomany problemsinone place.Youngpeople needtoshare theirproblem.The best
wayis to share to theirparents as the closestandthe trustedone. But when they have to stay at school
for daylongeverydayitwill cause their communication distantly spaced to their parents. When either

2. theyhave probleminschool and home so where they should share their problem? As youngster, their
mental isstill unstable.Iamafraidtheywill release itintomisbehaveway,likeconsuming drugs, joining
wild race and so on.
The last, imaginedthatif myparentshave petsat home.Like we are Balinese peoplelike to have
cows at home to help our economy problem. Who will help them if I should stay at school for a day
long? Our government? Or do you guys want to help? Of course they will ask their children. We can’t
help our parents if this system implemented to our school system. You can imagine students lime me
should complete so many homework after I get home, and then if I should help my parents for their
works. Wow it makes my day fantastic. In the concept Full Day School is a good system, but in the
implementationourgovernment shouldconsideroneveryaspectsof theirpeople life.Itiseasyto speak
about nothing, but to speak and do something is not that easy.

That’s all that I can deliver about the FDS implementation in this good opportunity. I hope my
speechcan change the thoughtof our government a little when deciding to apply new methods to our
system so in the implementation it will minimize the disadvantages and maximize advantages to
advancing our education forward.
