Recently, several incidents involving human and livestock death or injury have highlighted the possible creation of dangerous gases at farms using gypsum bedding. Human lives were lost at two separate events. In a third incident, a 2-year old and 4-year old were found unconscious adjacent to a manure storage where gypsum was present. In the European Union (EU) several agencies have forbade the use of gypsum as bedding based on losses of livestock as well as previous policies that restricted gypsum from landfill disposal.
Gypsum is a common term for hydrated calcium sulfate (CaSO4¬-2H2O). It is suspected that under the right manure storage conditions anaerobic bacteria convert the sulfur (S) in gypsum to hydrogen sulfide (H2S), a gas that can be deadly. Movement such as agitation of manure can lead to large H2S fluxes and localized dangerous levels of the gas.
While this is concerning, there remain many farms that utilize gypsum without incident. Data on this subject are lacking.
The goal of this symposium presentation is to update attendees on this ‘current event’ in manure management.
Water and agriculture threats and opportunities

Over the past year, the department has worked to improve various systems including replacing old printers and photocopiers, migrating email services to a more secure provider, building a new network infrastructure, implementing an attendance tracking system, establishing VPN connections between sites, upgrading internet connections, installing security cameras, replacing the old PBX system, redesigning the company website, and beginning plans for a new data center. Going forward, the department has outlined plans to expand various systems to all company sites and factories to integrate them more fully.

We know we want to create products which our customers find to be valuable. Whether we label it as customer-centric or product-led depends on how long we've been doing product management. They are not planning to make a network. If they need information from each other, they send a mail. They have intel Pentium. The operating system is Office 7 professional, because in a normal word packet not all the programs are present. In they company the computers are new. Since the company Van Den Bossche moved 1 year ago, all the computers are totally new. There are in total 10 computers at the department. 5.2 Does the company use the different services of the internet? The company uses the services of the internet. Because they have their own website www.vandenbossche.be on the website you will find information of the company e.g. promotions, photographs and opening hours. They also use email. The company doesn’t have an online shop. That is a little bit difficulty in selling kitchens. 5.3 Which application programs are used and for which goals? The programs they use on their computers are: “bouwsoft”, “autofit”,” master wood”, “auto cad” they use these services for designing and drawing kitchens. They mainly use Word and Excel for making orders. they also have their own accounting program who made by their accountant. They programs are al fairly expensive but are very good. They company stil uses cable connection Lan. There is also wifi.
