ISO 22000 is an international food safety standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) which consists of standards institutes from 154 countries. It provides a framework for a food safety management system using Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles with the goal of having a single, globally recognized standard for food safety that can be applied to any organization involved in the food supply chain. The standard aims to ensure safe food and reduce foodborne illness through effective safety plans and programs, documented management systems, and HACCP processes to identify and prevent food safety hazards.
