You have just joined a Multi-National Corporation (MNC) as a project manager,
whose tasks include managing global collaboration projects involving staff from
different departments all around the world. You have been informed that similar
previous projects have been difficult to manage due to cultural differences among
global team members, with ineffective and inefficient communication identified as the
main culprit. At the same time, the organization is undergoing major restructuring
and employee job rotation where project team members are shifting job roles.
Project deadlines and desired outcomes have thus suffered because of this
challenge. The Managing Director has tasked you to address and suggest ways to
resolve these challenges by answering the questions below. (You may assume
additional situations not mentioned in this scenario).

Based on the scenario above, identify possible barriers to communication within your
project team and provide suggestions on how to improve cross cultural

Context for this Assignment:
The Technology module assesses your ability to apply the EBM approach to understanding information technology systems and their management. The course learning outcomes for this module are all addressed by both assignments and the exam, with different emphases.
Assignment 1, completed individually, focuses on the earlier parts of EBM. Its objective is to show that you understand general technology principles by applying them to a specific topic, critically researching the literature on that topic and presenting a coherent multi-faceted analysis of it. Assignment 2, completed in a team with other students, focusses on the later parts of EBM. Its objective is to demonstrate the application of your technology understanding to evaluate a specific case study. You should work on both assignments in parallel as they are mutually supportive.
The assessment items have been designed to allow you to acquire and use the concepts in the course as a way to better understand your world and to act in it in a more knowledgeable and responsible manner.
The Assignment:
The Technology Topic Paper will present your individual examination of a current topic in information systems and technology. The paper will be well grounded in the concepts discussed in the Technology module and in the academic literature. The paper will use the Kangaroo Island case study to demonstrate the practical impact of the topic. Each member of your team for Assignment 2 will examine a different topic for Assignment 1. Important Note:
This Unit does not have a Final Exam but is based on your semester work and a final presentation
at a subject symposium to be arranged at the end of the semester. The assessments will be based
on a research question that you will develop throughout the semester. There will be a number of
check points throughout the semester, and each one of these will form a deliverable related to the
research question and contribute towards your final grade. Because of the nature of the subject
there are a number of deliverables (assignments) outlined in Table 1 below. While this may seem
a lot, please remember there is no exam, and the assessments are designed to keep you working
consistently throughout the semester. Again, this is necessary given the nature of the Unit of Study.
*** As this is an introduction to research subject there will be zero tolerance for plagiarism

INSTRUCTIONS
Students will need to consider a research problem in Information Technology or Information
Systems. The problem could arise from many different fields, for example, medical, business,
science, engineering, hospitality, banking etc … The selection of the research problem will need
to take place early, in session 1 or 2 as the first deliverable is in session 3. This is necessary given
the nature of the subject. All the remaining work throughout the semester will stem from the basic
research problem. The idea is that this Unit of Study will mimic the research process and provide
you with the understanding and tools to undertake future research. In the first session, we will
extensively discuss finding research problems and from there formulating research questions. This
then gives us the foundation for proceeding with the remainder of the unit.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
