![TV to Blame?
– Is It the Medium or the Message?
Yes: It is the speaking idol referred to in Revelation 13.
Rev 13:11 [niv] Then I saw another beast, coming out of the earth. He (2nd beast) had two horns like a lamb,
but he (2nd beast) spoke like a dragon.
Rev 13:12 [niv] He (2nd beast) exercised all the authority of the first beast on his behalf, and made the earth
and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed.
Rev 13:13 [niv] And he (2nd beast) performed great and miraculous signs, even causing fire to come down
from heaven to earth in full view of men.
Rev 13:14 [niv] Because of the signs he (2nd beast) was given power to do on behalf of the first beast, he (2nd
beast) deceived the inhabitants of the earth. He (2nd beast) ordered them to set up an image in honor of the
beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.
Rev 13:15 [niv] He (2nd beast) was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that it could
speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed.
Rev 13:16 [niv] He (2nd beast) also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a
mark on his right hand or on his forehead,
Rev 13:17 [niv] so that no one could buy or sell unless he (2nd beast) had the mark, which is the name of the
beast or the number of his name.
Rev 13:18 [niv]This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is
man's number. His number is 666.](https://image.slidesharecdn.com/istvtoblame-170306054252/75/Is-TV-to-blame-2-2048.jpg)

The document discusses whether television itself is to blame for negative influences, or if it is the content or messages broadcast through television that are the true cause of harm. The document presents opposing viewpoints on this issue, with one perspective citing biblical passages from Revelation indicating television could represent the "speaking idol" mentioned. However, another perspective argues that the medium of television is not inherently good or bad, but rather it is the messages broadcast through the medium that determine its impact. This second viewpoint cautions against denouncing the medium itself, and advocates using television to spread positive messages instead of negative ones.
