Hyperstimulation
Syndrome (OHSS)
Some women are extremely
sensitive to the medications
used to stimulate egg
production for the retrieval
cycle. This syndrome can
happen to any woman who
takes fertility drugs, and in less
than 5% of patients, it causes
swelling of the ovaries and fluid
buildup.

4. Risk of Pregnancy
As a fertile egg donor who is
stimulating her egg production,
you are at a high risk of
pregnancy. Egg donors cannot
use chemical birth control, so
barrier contraception or
abstinence is recommended
during egg retrieval cycles.
