ABSTRACT
Crops are vulnerable to animals. Because of this it is very essential to monitor the surrounding area of farm. In
this project we present a method to protect farm from animals and to reduce the power loss in the solar electric
fence , prevent the death of animals by using microcontroller based electric fence circuit using other peripheral
devices like ADC, GSM system, PIR sensor, buzzer. The developed system is not harmful to animal and human.
Because of this development system the yield of a agricultural land can be increased.
Keywords: ADC*, GSM system*, PIR sensor.
I. INTRODUCTION
Crops in farms are many times ravaged or by local animals like buffaloes, cows, goats, birds etc. This leads to
huge losses for the farmer some times even death of animals because of the voltage supply in electric fence .
Due to over population, it occurs a deforestation this results in shortage of food, water and shelter in forest
areas So, animal’s interference in residential areas is increasing day by day which affects human life and
property causes human animal conflict. Solar Electric fencing is one of the efficient periphery systems to
protect your property than conventional barbed wire fencing. When an animal or human being comes into
contact with the electric Fence they receive a sharp, short, painful but safe electric shock. The shock do not
cause any physical damage. In this project we are making use of PIR sensor to sense the movement within the
fence area. Whenever he passes the boundary the microcontroller will be alerted by the sensor. Then the
microcontroller switch ON the power supply. So we can reduce the cost in power supply unit.

voltage pulse supplied to fence due to this small vibration is created in animal body. By both sound and
vibration animals get move away from the field.
III. COMPONENTS REQUIRED
Solar panel :-Solar panels are devices that convert light into electricity. Solar panels make use of renewable
energy from the sun.
Rechargeable battery :-Are chargeable battery or storage battery is a group of one or more electro chemical
cells. They are known as secondary cells because their electro chemical reactions are electrically reversible.
LDR:- Light dependent resistor. Technically a photo resistor or light dependent resistor(LDR) or photocell is a
light controlled variable. The resistor decreases with increasing incident light intensity. (Fig 1).
Buzzer:- A buzzer is a loud noise maker. Most modern ones are civil defense or air- raid sirens, tornado sirens,
or the sirens on emergency service vehicles such as ambulances, police cars and fire trucks. There are two
general types, pneumatic and electronic.( Fig 2).
PIR Sensor Passive infrared (PIR) Sensors use a pair of pyroelectric sensors to detect heat energy in the
surrounding environment. These two sensors it beside each other, and when the signal differential between the
two sensors changes.(Fig 3).
Arduino uno:- Is a low-power, high-performance CMOS 8-bit microcontroller with 8K bytes of in-system
programmable Flash memory the Atmel AT89S52 is a powerful microcontroller which provides a highly-
flexible and cost-effective solution to many embedded control applications.(Fig 4)
GSM:- A GSM modem or GSM module is a device that uses GSM mobile telephone technology to provide a
wireless data link to a network. GSM modems are used in mobile telephones and other equipment that
communicates with mobile telephone networks. They use SIMs to identify their device to the network(Fig:5)

V. FUTURE APPLICATION
 This project can be base made on image processing. If animal come towards the farm then the image of
animal can be detect by using camera. This process can be done through wireless network.
 We can use energizer to prevent the death of animals in case of high voltage supply to the solar electric
fence.
VI. RESULT AND DISCUSSION
Whenever the animal is detected by the PIR sensor, immediately there will be an message alert to the owner of
the crop with the help of GSM module. And simultaneously the voltage pulse is applied from rechargeable
battery to solar electric fence . So that animal won’t get killed. Due to voltage pulse the animal only get shock.
The buzzer will produce some noise so that animals and birds ran away from agricultural land or field.

VII. CONCLUSION
Farmers encounter severe threats in rural parts of India like damage done by birds and animals. Hence, to
overcome this issue we have designed a system in which sound is played to scare the animals and birds, so that
it will automatically run away. The specific animals are alerted with these signals and successfully ran away.
The GSM module makes a call to the farmer to alert him whenever an animals enters the field. Therefore, the
designed system is affordable and useful to the farmers. The designed system won't be harmful to animals and
person , and it protects the farm areas. And we can reduce the cost, energy in electricity.
