The document provides an IP ingress protection rating guide that rates levels of protection from 0 to 9 against contact with solid objects and protection from 0 to 9 against water for electrical enclosures. Protection levels range from no protection to complete protection against dust or immersion in water. Higher numbers indicate greater protection.
Industrial and electronic products are designed to withstand the ingress of both dust and liquid. The IP rating shows the level of protection each can withstand. In this slideshare we explore what the number mean.

ILME Multi-pole Heavy Duty Rectangular Connectors are a versatile solution for a wide variety of industrial applications. Our infographic highlights the features and benefits of the rectangular connectors, including their durability, versatility, and ease of use. Learn how these connectors can optimize your industrial processes and streamline your operations.
ccording to the National Electrical Code (NEC), the areas "where fire or explosion hazards may exist due to flammable gases or vapors, flammable liquids, combustible dust, or ignitable fibers or flyings." are defined as hazardous locations. The following infographic summarizes and describes the various hazardous (classified) locations.
A cable gland is a device that allows the user to pass a cable, wire or tube into an enclosure while providing strain relief and sealing out dust, dirt, and liquids. Mencom cable glands are mainly categorized by three major mounting thread sizes: NPT, PG, and Metric. The chart below explains technical terms related to the cable glands and illustrates differences between the threads.
Industrial Communication Solutions – Modbus Gateway & Protocol GatewayMencom Corporation
Mencom provides the industrial communication solutions; Protocol gateways for legacy systems integration & Modbus Gateways for the conversion from the serial-based devices to Ethernet-based devices.
Circular M12 and ½-20″ cordsets and receptacles are available in a variety of pin configurations and wire color codes. In addition to a variety of pin out and color code differences, each of these connectors also has distinct keyways. Below is a chart displaying these keyways.
Mencom’s line of armored, quick disconnect circular cordsets provides a rugged solution for harsh environments. They are available in 7/8″, M12, 1/2″ and M8 Connectors.
Mencom provides extensive industrial network solutions such as managed switches, unmanaged switches, gigabit ethernet switches, PoE switches, wireless switches, IEC 61850/EN50155 certified switches with easy configuration and enhanced security features. Mencom also offers reliable and secure serial and device connectivity solutions with superior quality and cost-effective value for demanding industrial applications.
Commonly used in process automation, the ILME rectangular connectors are known for their high-quality construction and reliable connection. Each kit contains a base, the mating hood along with the required male and female inserts. Many options are available from 3 to 24 pole connectors including termination by the standard screw or the tool-less spring known as Squich.
Applications for these connectors are found in material handling, automotive, robotics, factory automation, machine tools and more. Save time by purchasing the main components needed to make your connection, all in one solution. Add a Mencom cable gland, available in plastic or metal and you are good to go.
Other options available including housings for aggressive environments, high-capacity wiring, IP68, and TPE insulated to name a few.
The ability to interface with the contents of the cabinet without opening the door prevents a lot of potential safety hazards associated with having an open electrical panel, such as Arc Flash.
Mencom currently has well over 3,000 designs of Panel Interface Connectors, also known as either programming ports, program ports, programming interface or interface ports, in production and our engineer team is designing new Panel Interface Connectors every day to meet the various needs of your business.
It is important to consider performance, strengths and limitations of cables when selecting the appropriate connection types for industrial applications in the harsh manufacturing plants. This infographic illustrates the differences the three most common cable types (tray cables, AWM cables and service cables) in the industry while comparing the features, rating, benefits, flexibility, and reliability with each other.
By using a Panel Interface Connector to communicate with a PLC inside the cabinet, you can eliminate downtime and prevent the risk of Arc Flash & other safety concerns while saving significant time and money. Mencom PICs are rated IP65/66 (NEMA 4, 4X, 12) so they can reduce potential risks of the enclosure being exposed to any unwanted substances in harsh environments.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.
