This document provides an overview of topics and learning objectives for an introductory process control (IPC) course. It discusses two main topics: 1) process control systems and their block diagrams using a stirred tank heater system as an example, and 2) the importance of servo and regulator problems. The learning objectives are for students to understand process control systems and their importance, and to be able to draw and identify blocks of a process control system and distinguish between servo and regulator problems. Examples of process variables, control systems, and the role of controllers are also provided.
