About this Document This is a concept guide designed to illustrate how biipmi aims to inspire people to care about their lifelong employability. About biipmi The 21st century has seen, and is witnessing, further transformations of global economies. The new norm arising from globalisation is that lifelong employment can be relegated to the being of the past. We are now into the phase of lifelong employability through lifelong learning. Individuals will have to learn to continually engage in learning, and document these learning outcomes for branding himself. Employers are looking beyond just resumes to full-proof their recruitment efforts, where more employers are utilising social networking sites to screen potential employees. biipmi bridges the gap between employers’ expectations and employees’ aspirations by focusing on personal professional branding. biipmi offers both online and offline tools as part of the effort to promote professional branding, enhance lifelong employability and increase human capital productivity.

PMEs make up more than half of Singapore's workforce. During the last recession, nearly 10,000 of them were made redundant and labour economists are saying this group may again be affected as the anticipated economic slowdown looms over this region. This revealed unsettling statistics that PMEs were not insulated from such devastating economic onslaughts. In fact, anecdotal evidences indicate that PMEs could actually take longer to regain employment, and under-employment would persist for some time even after the economy recovered. Although the concept of training with incentives was introduced, there is only so much policy can help the PMEs. This has also led some researchers to question whether our education and training strategies have created an over-education but under-employment situation. With even more resources being devoted to CET for PMEs in the coming years, are we able to avoid the phenomenon of over-education-under-employment?

Thirteen field-experts have discussed about the application of the user-centricity in the definition of new services for educational and inclusion domains tailoring them in a wide European approach. Twelve initiatives, including NET-EUCEN and OpenDiscoverySpace.eu, have been analysed in the two domains, raising a very interesting discussions about the visions in business, technology, citizens’ engagement, education and policy. The user-centricity indicators have been discussed both from their application to the best practice sample of NET-EUCEN and the potential application in the eleven external cases of the day. The attending people provided, in a double-fold process, feedback about the usability of technologies, methodologies, discussed scenarios and indicators. Mr. Daniel Van Lerberghe, Fondation EurActiv PoliTech and ODS Partner, discussed about “a socially-powered and multilingual open learning infrastructure to boost the adoption of eLearning resources” (ref. slides 111-120). This project is currently playing a key role in supporting the take-up and use of digital educational resources in schools and revolutionises communities of practice in eLearning, thus directly referring to the action # 68 of the Digital Agenda. The user-centricity is focused on the social-empowered multilingual portal, facilitating the discovery, enable to use and provide monitored-for-impact use of digital materials.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup. The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
