Most IoT platforms have been developed in an effort to be universally appied to various services and applications. However, critical success factor of IoT is an explosion of demand for services. Therefore the goal will be achieved if the service and the application are reflected their characteristics for each use case. Hence I presented an IoT platform for healthcare and suggested to configure it with 5 components in this paper. Moreover this paper introduced REST APIs as an interface in the platform for interoperability with any service and device

4. The Internet of Things
• The term Internet of Things
was first used by Kevin
Ashton in 1999.
• Refers to uniquely
identifiable objects (things)
and their virtual
representations in an
Internet-like structure
6. Application of the Internet of
Things
Education Business Communications Entertainment Medical/Health
7. Typical Views of the Internet of Things
Health App Smart Health
Smart Home Smart City
8. Platform manager for
healthcare
This paper proposes the IoT Platform for healthcare as a suitable self
management model for chronic disease such as hypertension,
obesity, diabetes.
9. Future of healthcare in a connected world
Wearable connected devices:
Remote patient monitoring (RPM)
Monitoring prescription drugs
Connected care
10. Pharmaceuticals :
Intelligent tags for drugs
Drug usage tracking
Pharma. Product
websites
--> Enable the emergency
treatment to be given faster
and more correct
11. Food:
Control geographical origin
Food production
management
Nutrition calculations
Prevent overproduction and
shortage
Control food quality, health and
safety.
12. Medical sensor device and virtual medical
sensor
Medical sensor device such as blood pressure monitors
and glucose meters connects physically to IP-enabled
network by using IPv4 or IPv6 in order to use at home or
medical office.
mobile application is connected to any other devices and
services using the REST (Representational State
Transfer) API [10] on the platform. Identification and
authentication are very important for a family to share
and use medical sensor devices at home.
13. REST API
IoT platform uses REST API as an interface as there is no
standard for them to access to the platform. All devices and
services including mobile applications access to the platform by
REST API.
It is a light weight interface of transferring information over
reliable https network protocol in the IP-enabled network, so that
small sized devices can use the API even if they have some
constraints like low computing power and small memory capacity
14. Mobile Application Server application on
IoT
Mobile application provides a significant role of the user
interface of the medical sensor device as well as
information indication channel from the server at hospital.
Service application provides information with a doctor to
analyze and diagnose patient’s disease as well as
providing information with patient to inform his health
condition.
15. Health platform
• Some of the instance for Health platform that are
developed to have the people life easier
Google Google fit
Apple health kit
Samsung SAMI
16. Apple health kit
An innovative new way to use your health and fitness
information. The Health app gives you an easy-to-read
dashboard of your health and fitness data.
Heart rate, calories burned, blood sugar, cholesterol your health
and fitness apps are great at collecting all that data. The Health
app puts that data in one place, accessible with a tap, giving you
a clear and current overview of your health. You can also create
an emergency card with important health information
17. Samsung Digital Health
Samsung Digital Health helps application developers and healthcare
providers thrive in an open environment that connects, devices and
partner services. Users can experience various health and fitness
services through Samsung Digital Health.
S Health is an engaging app for fitness and wellbeing that runs on
Android devices not only Samsung devices. It keeps track of users'
health data and data from S Health can be shared with other
applications by using Samsung Digital Health SDK.
18. Conclusion
It means that user can manage his own
disease by himself as access to healthcare
services in the platform for healthcare by
using medical device after purchasing it at a
market near his home. In order to provide the
service more effectively, the IoT platform for
healthcare is needed. Therefore, the paper
presented the design requirements for the
model to the platform. Several crucial
components were identified and researched.
