Larry Page and Sergey Brin met at Stanford University while studying for their Ph.D.'s in computer science. They launched Google in 1998 and invented Google's PageRank algorithm, then in 2015 created Alphabet as Google's parent company which includes other entities such as Nest and Calico. Tim Berners-Lee is an English computer scientist known as the inventor of the World Wide Web. He developed the concept of the World Wide Web while working at CERN in 1989. Ray Tomlinson was an American programmer who in 1971 implemented the first email program for the ARPANET, allowing users to send messages between different hosts on the network for the first time.
