1 Introduction my your training company
1.1 Presentation of my company
I started my search for a company in the summer of 2014. I thought it would be an easy task because
I already had a few companies in mind, but my first impression wasn’t right at all.
1.1.1 Contact
The first contact with the company D' HONDT NV in Zottegem was quite by accident. One of my
relatives ‘Volvo X40 didn’t start well, so I drove to the company with her. This gave me the opportunity
to ask them if it wasn’t possible to do my internship ‘workplace learning’, from 20 till 24 October,
with them. Unfortunately they would start some renovations in autumn and all the employees would
move to some working containers. So, due to the lack of space it wasn’t possible to employ me in
the administration.. But they were very friendly and really helpful and suggested me to call their
subsidiary company, located in Aalst, to ask if I couldn’t go there. For the management it was okay but
for me it wasn’t realistic because of the big work-home distance.
The month August was very busy, so I didn’t have the time to contact other companies till
3 September 2014. But on a specific Wednesday afternoon, I had almost no work for school, so it was
the perfect moment to go on with my search. I went to the company De Raedt in Herzele, because my
parents have a Peugeot and they have a good relation with the owners, but unfortunately the manager
didn’t have the possibility to arrange something. My next stop was a few meters further: garage Van
Melckebeke. But again I was unlucky because they’ve already hired a classmate.
1.1.2 Location
Finally I ended up at Public limited Company Confectionery Bogaert – Desmet, situated at
Oombergen. They gave me the chance to start and we filled in the ‘training contract’.
My training supervisor is Pieter Bogaert.

1.1.3 Information confiserie Bogaert-Desmet
The first contact with the manager Mr. Bogaert went very smoothly, he took me and my mom right
away to the administration-offices where I would start working in October.
He introduced me to the seven co-workers and their different
jobs in the company. He explained something about the opening
hours and the kind of products tey sell, like chocolates, candies,
dragees, and so on ...
Through the website, he gave an overview of his clients namely
bakeries, food stores, department stores, delicatessens,
caterers, beverage stations, market vendors, newsagents,
catering establishments and his suppliers: Callebaut, Cavalier,
Harib, Clarys food, …
They asked me how I knew the company. In short: in the past, one of my family-members managed a
market stall and one of her/his suppliers had a good relation with the manager. Mr. Bogaert was very
happy to hear that. Then I introduced myself: by saying my name, my age, my field of study and my
place of residency. At the end, Mr. Bogaert told me that he has taken over the business from his father
and nowadays the company has grown into a big company.
