The band Coldplay formed in 1996 in London. The members are Chris Martin on vocals, keyboard, and guitar, Jon Buckland on principal guitar, and Guy Berryman on electric bass. Chris and Jonny met in college in 1996 and started a band called Pectoralz. Guy joined as he was also a classmate. They later changed their name. Martin also asked their friend Tim Rice-Oxley to join but he declined to focus on his own band. The members enjoy working together and view interviews as a way to share their story with fans.

• -We are from London!
When did you start to play?
• -I think it was on 1996.
• Yeah on 1996….
how did you met each other?
Well, Chris y Jonny met it the college on 1996 and they tried make a
band named Pectoralz no?
- yeah! Oh God that years (Johnny smiles)
- -then Guy stared to play with us cause he was our classmate
- -then WE CHANGE OUR NAME! oh God it was so strange…
- -and…. When all this happen will begin to play with us.

• -yes, martin asked to one of our friends called tim rice-oxley but he said
no because he had it his own band
