Editor's Notes
These two questions are biggies! Healthcare is by nature a fit for “caregivers”. Obviously if someone is a nurse or radiography tech, healthcare is their choice, but what sort of positions would someone apply for that might be offered in a different industry? How does the interviewee let the interviewer know that healthcare is a good fit for them?
Documents – is it a good idea to have a copy with you whether someone asks for it or not?
What other items should be included in a healthcare “portfolio”
How early is too early?
Obviously, if the person did their research, they will ask some questions based on what they found, but what are a couple of other “good” questions to ask?
What shouldn’t they ask?
Most people that I have seen working in a hospital where some sort of scrubs or uniform, what is appropriate for a hospital interview?
Interviews can be nerve wracking. What are some things the interviewer does to help the interviewee? What are some things the interviewee can do to help themselves relax?
Illinois workNet has a great tool to help practice interview questions. Watch the recorded session about this – or if you have an IWN account, you can access the tool on your own with the link that we are putting in the chat pod for you.
What is a good question that someone can ask to clarify the next steps?
What is the typical time between someone interviewing and notification of hiring? Does it vary for the tech staff versus nurses versus a someone who works in the kitchen or housekeeping?
What is appropriate follow-up.
