Interview about the rainforest By: Kiana and Alana
Alana and I interviewed 10 people. Their were 7 questions they could choose from. They either answered I or 2 each.
The 1st Question What do you think rainforests would be like in 100 years from now? The most common response was that it would be horrible because there would be no clean air and it would be quite a different change.
The 2nd Question Why do you think the rainforest is so important to us? The common response was that it is the lungs of the earth so it provides us with many necessities such as wood, medicines and clean air.
The 3rd Question What do you think we can do to save rainforests? The common response to this was that we can use the 3 R’s Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, buy meat that hasn’t been grazed in the rainforest, buy soy that hasn’t been grown in the rainforest and by buying wood that is ‘Certified’. We can also teach others about the effects of deforestation.
The 4th Question What would our lifestyle be like without trees? The only response to this was that everyone would be walking around with oxygen masks because there is no clean air left and the death toll will rise.
The 5th Question What would our economy be like without the logging industries? The only response to this was that it would still survive and be strong due to the other things like technical advances but we still need to be aware.
The 6th Question What do you think will happen to the indigenous people of the rainforest when their homes are chopped down? The common response to this question was that they will die due to the difference of the environment. The foods, diseases, lifestyle and clothing are all very different. There will be too much of a sudden change in environment that they will not be able to survive and will die.
The 7th Question We still need some of the resources in the rainforest so what type of logging would be best? The common response to this question was that we can do sustainable logging which is when you cut down trees but plant more. The other type of logging that was suggested was strip logging which is designed to mimic nature. It involves clear cutting thin strips of rainforests parallel to rivers.
Conclusion With these questions asked and answered We hope you have learnt the importance's of rainforest. So if those questions ever pop back into mind, think hard about what they said. Thank you!
Special Thanks Special thanks to Cohen, Shreya, Ellie, Lucy, Lucas, Adam, Sherwin, Laurelinda, Miss Pike and Parisa for devoting and giving up their time for our interview. And special thanks to Miss Pike with all her support during this.
