Chronic diseases are a major cause of death in the United States, affecting about half of Americans. Minority groups and those with lower incomes are especially vulnerable. While individual behaviors contribute to chronic diseases, workplaces can also influence health risks. Studies show that promoting health education in the workplace on topics like smoking, exercise and stress management can significantly reduce rates of chronic diseases and lower healthcare costs for employers. Employers have a role in fostering collective health and minimizing exposure to hazards and stressful conditions that may induce chronic diseases.

Chronic diseases are a leading cause of death in the United States,
with figures showing that approximately half of Americans are
afflicted, and a fourth experiencing their residual effects. Certain
segments of the population are also more prone to these diseases
than others. Specifically, minority groups and lower income brackets
have been shown most vulnerable to cardiovascular diseases and
cancers.

The workplace naturally and significantly contributes to
predispositions to chronic diseases, as most of Americans’ waking
hours are spent there. However, the workplace is as much a hotbed
of risk factors as it is a site for solutions. Combatting chronic
diseases involves the alteration of individual health behaviors, which
workplace leaders and managers can oversee.
This is because the workplace itself should be a site of health
promotion. For instance, a study surveying the health behaviors of
Johnson & Johnson employees between 1995 and 2010 reveals that
the percentage of smokers in the workplace had declined by more
than two-thirds, and physical inactivity reduced by half. These
results were attributed to the will of management to promote health
education on the effects of smoking, weight management, stress

The health care system in Colorado is a composition of medical professionals providing services such as diagnosis, treatment, as well as preventive measures to mental illness and injuries ("Healthcare policy in Colorado - Ballotpedia," 2019). Health care policy involves the establishment and implementation of legislation and other regulations that the states use to manage its health care system effectively. Further, this sector consists of other participants, such as insurance and health information technology. The cost citizens pay for medical care and also the access to quality care influence the overall health care providers in Colorado. Therefore, the need for the creation and implementation of laws that help the state maintain efficiency in the health sector in Colorado.
Problem Statement
The declining standards of medical care within the United States has caused significant concern in the world. Due to these rising concerns, there have been various policies implemented, leading to mixed reactions among the different states. Some of the active policies implemented offer a long-term solution to this problem including Medicaid and Medicare. After acquiring state control, the Republicans dismissed the idea to expand and create medical insurance for Medicaid in Colorado. Sustaining the structure of the health care payroll calls for the deductions from the employees and the employers, which may lead to loss of jobs and increased burden of expenditure (Garcia, 2019).
Identify the Methodology
The main objective of this policy plan is to investigate the role of legislation in the management of the health care sector in the United States. Due to the need for achieving in-depth exploration, this paper uses a combination of both qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection by addressing both practical and theoretical aspects of the research. Based on the answers that the policy requires, choosing survey as the research design. This method involves collecting and analyzing data from a few people who represent the principal group within health care. However, the survey method faces some challenges such as attitudes and perception of the health workers leading to the delimitation of the study. The target population for the study includes the nurses within the health sectors in Colorado. The selection of the participants involved in the use of stratified random sampling.

5.1 Introduction
Chronic diseases include conditions such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes ,
respiratory conditions, and arthritis. In high-income countries, chronic diseases
have long been the leading causes of death and disability. Globally, more than 70 %
of deaths are due to chronic diseases, in the United States , more than 87 % (World
Health Organization [WHO] 2011 ). Almost one in two Americans has at least one
chronic condition (Wu and Green 2000 ). Aside from the cost in terms of human
welfare, treatment of chronic disease accounts for an estimated three quarters of
U.S. health care spending (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC]
2012 ). Chronic diseases directly affect overall health care budgets, employee pro-
ductivity, and economies. Globally, noncommunicable diseases account for two-
thirds of the overall disease burden in middle-income countries and are expected to
rise to three-quarters by 2030, typically in parallel to economic development (World
Bank 2011 ). Of particular concern to many low- and middle- income countries is
that threats to population health occur on two fronts simultaneously: “In the slums
of today’s megacities, we are seeing noncommunicable diseases caused by unhealthy
diets and habits, side by side with undernutrition” (WHO 2002 ).
Four modifi able risk factors are principal contributors to chronic disease , associ-
ated disability, and premature death: lack of physical activity, poor nutrition, tobacco
use, and excessive alcohol consumption (CDC 2012 ). One in three adult Americans
is overweight , another third is obese, and almost one-fi fth of young people between

Background of Chronic Disease in the Florida States

Abstract
Purpose: Physician burnout is reported in more than one out of every 2 practicing clinicians and is
just as prevalent in training physicians. Burnout severity is also associated with increasing levels of
financial debt. Medical professionals are notable for their high and increasing levels of debt; despite
this, financial literacy is poor among physicians, and financial education is largely absent from
medical education. Radiation oncologists (ROs) are no different in this regard, with 33% of res-
idents reporting high levels of burnout symptoms, 33% carrying >$200,000 of educational debt,
and 75% reporting being unprepared to handle future financial decisions. To fill this gap, we
reviewed the basic tenets of personal financial health for the early career RO.
Methods and materials: The core concept of financial independence (FI) is introduced, and we
review 4 basic tenets of personal financial health for the young medical professional: debt,
behavior, investment, and asset protection strategies.
Results: FI is achieved by saving until the desired quality of life can be maintained, independent of
employment income. Debt strategy involves minimizing debt accrual, understanding student loans,
and having a debt management plan. Behavioral strategy involves setting financial goals, calcu-
lating worth and a savings rate, budgeting, and frugal living. The basics of investing include
asset allocation, diversification, rebalancing, and minimizing expenses. Finally, asset protection
includes insuring against catastrophic events with disability, life, health, liability, and property
insurance.
Conclusions: Healthy financial practices can lead to FI and may facilitate professional and personal
freedoms with the goal of mitigating burnout-associated stressors. The tenets of strong financial
health for ROs in the early stages of their career include sound debt, behavioral, investment, and
asset protection strategies. Furthermore, initial and continuing financial education is an overlooked

Health care policy involves the establishment and implementation of legislation and other regulations that the states use to manage its health care system effectively. Further, this sector consists of other participants, such as insurance and health information technology. The cost citizens pay for medical care and also the access to quality care influence the overall health care providers in Colorado. Therefore, the need for the creation and implementation of laws that help the state maintain efficiency in the health sector in Colorado.
Problem Statement
The declining standards of medical care within the United States has caused significant concern in the world. Due to these rising concerns, there have been various policies implemented, leading to mixed reactions among the different states. Some of the active policies implemented offer a long-term solution to this problem including Medicaid and Medicare. After acquiring state control, the Republicans dismissed the idea to expand and create medical insurance for Medicaid in Colorado. Sustaining the structure of the health care payroll calls for the deductions from the employees and the employers, which may lead to loss of jobs and increased burden of expenditure (Garcia, 2019).

The main objective of this policy plan is to investigate the role of legislation in the management of the health care sector in the United States. Due to the need for achieving in-depth exploration, this paper uses a combination of both qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection by addressing both practical and theoretical aspects of the research. Based on the answers that the policy requires, choosing survey as the research design. This method involves collecting and analyzing data from a few people who represent the principal group within health care. However, the survey method faces some challenges such as attitudes and perception of the health workers leading to the delimitation of the study. 5.1 Introduction
Chronic diseases include conditions such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes ,
respiratory conditions, and arthritis. In high-income countries, chronic diseases
have long been the leading causes of death and disability. Globally, more than 70 %
of deaths are due to chronic diseases, in the United States , more than 87 % (World
Health Organization [WHO] 2011 ). Almost one in two Americans has at least one
chronic condition (Wu and Green 2000 ). Aside from the cost in terms of human
welfare, treatment of chronic disease accounts for an estimated three quarters of
U.S. health care spending (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC]
2012 ). Chronic diseases directly affect overall health care budgets, employee pro-
ductivity, and economies. Globally, noncommunicable diseases account for two-
thirds of the overall disease burden in middle-income countries and are expected to
rise to three-quarters by 2030, typically in parallel to economic development (World
Bank 2011 ). Of particular concern to many low- and middle- income countries is
that threats to population health occur on two fronts simultaneously: “In the slums
of today’s megacities, we are seeing noncommunicable diseases caused by unhealthy
diets and habits, side by side with undernutrition” (WHO 2002 ).
Four modifi able risk factors are principal contributors to chronic disease , associ-
ated disability, and premature death: lack of physical activity, poor nutrition, tobacco
use, and excessive alcohol consumption (CDC 2012 ). One in three adult Americans
is overweight , another third is obese, and almost one-fi fth of young people between

Certain segments of the population are also more prone to these diseases than others. Specifically, minority groups and lower income brackets have been shown most vulnerable to cardiovascular diseases and cancers. However, the workplace is as much a hotbed of risk factors as it is a site for solutions. Combatting chronic diseases involves the alteration of individual health behaviors, which workplace leaders and managers can oversee. This is because the workplace itself should be a site of health promotion. For instance, a study surveying the health behaviors of Johnson & Johnson employees between 1995 and 2010 reveals that the percentage of smokers in the workplace had declined by more than two-thirds, and physical inactivity reduced by half. Exposure to hazardous elements in the workplace must be strictly eliminated, as should be work-related and disease-inducing conditions such as high demands and inflexible work schedules.
