InterRail is a train pass that allows unlimited travel by train for up to one month throughout many European countries. It was created in 1972 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the International Railway Union. Originally intended for those under 21, the age limit was later extended. Over time, more countries participated as InterRail expanded after the fall of the Iron Curtain. Today there are different ticket types depending on age and duration. InterRail aims to give young people an affordable way to explore Europe by train.

2. What is InterRail? IntarRail is a train ticket that gives you the possibility to travel throughout Europe by train for up to one month . To have an InterRail pass you must be normally resident in one of the participating European countries .

4. History of InterRail InterRail was created in 1972, at the 50th anniversary of the International Railway Union. It is created as a rail pass for traveling in second class for one month in 21 countries in Europe.

It allows unlimited travel abroad and 50% reduction is given on journeys with the issuing railway network In 1976 the age limit of the pass is extended from 21 to 23 years old and three years later, in 1979 travelers up to 26 years old are allowed to buy and use it.

This ticket has different prices depending on the age of the passenger. Not all countries participating in the InterRail have this ticket.

10. How to catch the first train ? To use the InterRail can not departure from the country in which you are resident. To reach the border of the country for which your ticket is valid, InterRail offers a 50% discount on the price on all trains from the rest of Europe, including in your home country, from your city to the border more close to the passes included in your InterRail, and the same for the return.
