AN INTERNSHIP IS AN OFFICIAL PROGRAM THAT IS OFFERED BY AN EMPLOYER TO POTENTIAL
EMPLOYEES.
INTERNSHIPS ARE VERY POPULAR WITH UNDERGRADUATE OR GRADUATE STUDENTS WHO NEED TO
GAIN VALUABLE WORK OR RESEARCH EXPERIENCE.
INTERNS WILL WORK FOR A NUMBER OF MONTHS.
TODAY, AN INTERN CAN WORK PART TIME OR FULL TIME AT THE COMPANY FOR A SPECIFIED PERIOD

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN APPRENTICESHIP AND
AN INTERNSHIP?
• An intern is not bound to work for the employer after the internship is over, though
many do.
• An internship also offers students a chance to “try out” a job or industry to
determine if it is the right choice for them.
• Apprentices know which field they want to go into, and work with a master in that
field to learn it first-hand.

WHY AN INTERNSHIP IS IMPORTANT FOR YOUR
FUTURE CAREER
• You need experience to get experience.
• Employers in today's market seek a relevant work history,
whether that's from internships, volunteer work, or actual job
experience.
• A practical work background carries a major significance when
attempting to enter the job market.
THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN MORE ABOUT YOURSELF
• An Internship Provides Real Life Experience and Exposure
• An internship enables you to gain first-hand exposure of working in the real
world.
• It also allows students to harness the skill, knowledge, and theoretical practice
they learnt in university.
• The great thing about internships is that it teaches young professionals about the
specific industries and companies they are interested in.
• Internships provide a nice learning curve for students with little experience of the
professional world.
GET CONNECTED AND DEVELOP YOUR
PROFESSIONAL NETWORK
• Partaking in an internship allows you to establish deeper relationships than
you normally would talking to a stranger one-on-one.
• Being an intern gives you more opportunities to build connections with company
professionals that can be very beneficial for your future career.
PREVENT CV FROM GOING TO THE TRASH
• resume as an extension of yourself and how you would want someone to
perceive you.
• Instead of thinking long term about landing that job, switch up the student mindset
to short term. Your short term goal should be to secure a job interview.
• When an employer sees that the student completed an internship, for a hefty 6
month span, or even abroad, it will go a long way to convincing them that you are
an asset to their company.
• Listing of the tasks is very important to demonstrate students value.
• landing in a job is easier.
TRANSITION INTO A FULL-TIME POSITION
• Sometimes graduating from college and immediately jumping into a new job
position has its disadvantages.
• If a student never worked full-time before, the change may be difficult or
overwhelming.
•
• Internships offer opportunities to transition into full-time positions.
• .
• With an internship, students given the opportunity to showcase their talents,
commitment, and value to a prospective employer.
• Furthermore, employers are more inclined to hire a candidate once they have
invested time and money to train that candidate.
TYPES OF INTERNSHIP
Last but not the least: Research Internship
ACADEMIC INTERNSHIP (AICTE)
• A minimum of 14-20 credits of Internship/ Entrepreneurial activities / Project
work/ Seminar and Inter/ Intra Institutional Training may be counted toward B.
Tech. degree programme and 10-14 credits for three-year diploma programme.
• • Here, 1 credit is equivalent to minimum 40-45 hours of work. Therefore, a full-
time intern is expected to spend 40 - 45 hours per week on Internship, Training,
Project work, Seminar activities etc. This will result in about 600 to 700 hours of
total internship duration for B. Tech and 450-500 hours for diploma.
• Internships may be full-time or part-time; they are full-time in the summer
vacation and part-time during the academic session.
