The Moluccan eclectus parrot is a subspecies native to Indonesia's Moluccas islands. It is sexually dimorphic, with males having bright green plumage and females having red and blue feathers. They have specialized digestive systems that allow them to consume tough plant materials like fruits, nuts, and seeds. Moluccan eclectus parrots can live up to 30 years in the wild and 50 years in captivity, and breed between November and April, usually laying two eggs. However, the species is classified as vulnerable due to habitat loss and poaching for the pet trade and meat. Conservation efforts aim to protect the parrot's natural habitat and regulate the pet trade.
