Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

PLASTIC
For better or worse, plastics are everywhere in our lives and have transformed our environment.
We can now coat plastics with a liquid-glass, making it more practical and safe for our needs.
For example, concerns of elements in plastic entering our food chain (e.g. Plastic food packaging),
are a cause for concern. Even recycles cardboard it is claimed are prone to leach cancerous ink
chemicals into food products. With the use of liquid-glass on the plastic, no elements can contaminate
the food. Nano coatings can also be used on food surfaces and trials have been undertaken to
determine how Nano coatings can protect a farmer’s crop.

5. Benefits of using nano smart fluids on plastic
Surfaces become:
Easy to clean
Hydrophobic
Oleophobic
Food Safe
Anti-bacterial (eliminates bacteria)
Bacteriostatic (Bacteria cannot develop on surfaces)
Protection against Acid and alkaline
Creates a cleaner environment without aggressive chemical usage
Whatever your need for plastic, whatever the functionality and value, NanoLandGlobal will work with you to improve the
process.
Glass & Ceramics
NanoLandGlobal also provides consultancy and supplies of liquid-glass technology for surfaces
such as glass & ceramics. The process enables you to create an invisible, protective and robust liquid
glass coating over glass and ceramics 20 to 50,000 times thinner than a human hair! The entire building
industry can treat glass and ceramics in areas such as homes, offices, factories, swimming pools,
leisure facilities and more. Liquid-glass technology places an invisible, protective and robust liquid
glass shield over the surface. Once coated, any surface becomes both super phobic and hydrophobic,
making cleaning without aggressive chemicals much easier and cost effective

6. Textile
Smart fluids form an invisible anti-stick coating on each single fibre making the fabric water-,
oil and dirt repellent. Never worry again about water, coffee, red wine or even gravy stains. Simply
dab off any fluids with a cloth.

7. Application Smart Fluids
Brief instructions:
Ensuring the surface is clean is essential for smart fluids to work effectively.
As a general guide, use pre-clean (as provided) to remove any invisible bacteria
from smooth surfaces such as glass, plastic, metal or ceramics. Stone, wood and
rough surfaces simply require brushing and general cleaning prior to sealing.
Seal the surface with liquid glass - let dry 10 minutes. One can apply liquid glass
by brush, spray or roll method, just like painting a wall or roof. Note spread the
fluids evenly, not over-spilling the fluids. 1 L can cover a remarkable area 20
to 160 sq metre!
Polish with microfiber cloth, or appropriate clean paper towel or dry clean
cloth – finished
Detailed instructions and tips for an ideal result
Always clean the surface. For stone or concrete, brush dust or particles away.
The pre-clean primer is a cleaner that is optimally suited to prepare the surface
for sealing, but is deployed only for metal, glass, plastic and smooth ceramics.
Do not use the pre-clean for stone, wood or fabric. Wash the object to be treated
thoroughly and rinse the cleaned areas with water or wipe off to completely
remove any remaining primer.
Sealing the surface with Smart Fluids:
Apply smart-fluid protect to a dry cloth or spray directly onto the surface
to be treated. Apply the fluid thinly and evenly. Remember ten drops is sufficient
to cover a car windscreen! Make sure that the sealant is applied to all areas.
You can simply spray the smart fluids to the surface or rub-in using a dry clean
cloth or paper towel.
NanoLandGlobal Ltd 7 Bath Place, LONDON, United Kingdom, EC2A 3DR +44 (0) 20 3287 9234 info@nanolandglobal.com www.nanolandglobal.com Page 7
8. Polymerisation or super-repellence will take 24 hours for best effect. However, the surface
chemistry changes will start immediately.
Polish the sealed surface with rigor. The surface must be “rolled-out” to remove any
mountains at the molecular level! The scale we are working at is similar that of
to a football with planet earth! Polish the surface flat with determination for a
few moments. Please polish the dried surface with a high quality microfiber cloth
until no remaining sealant is visible and the surface shines with no streaks. If remaining
sealant is still visible, moisten the microfiber cloth slightly with warm water. If any
streaks can be seen simply polish again as soon as possible.
DO NOT LET SMART FLUIDS SMEAR ROUGHLY ON THE SURFACE
The sealant will remain intact for a long time if you clean the surfaces treated with smart
fluids with clear water and the microfiber cloth or white paper towel. The Pre-cleaner
primer can also be used on the sealant without damaging it.
* Application temperature is between 1º and 40 °C
* The liquid glass coating can withstand permanent temperatures up to 200°C
* The coating is acid and base resistant to pH 12
* The sealant complies with the standards for Food Safety
* Please do not use any commercial soaps or cleaners on the sealed surface as this is
simply a waste of money. Cleaning with water will maintain hygiene.
