Team Phalanx presents a solution to littering issues among young people in Dane John Gardens, focusing on the redesign of waste bins to make recycling more engaging. A survey revealed that while the majority recognize littering as a problem, many would be inclined to use visually appealing bins that provide interactive features, such as watching waste being recycled in real-time. The proposed interactive bins aim to educate young people about recycling and foster positive behavior towards waste management.

• 40% of them said they used the bins in the park.
• 50% of them had sufficient knowledge on recycling.
• 90 % of them said they would put their waste in a recycling bin if it
was placed in the park.
• 75% of people said they would be interested in using a bin that allows
them to watch their waste being recycled in seconds.
Majority of them felt that if the design of the bin was visually appealing, they
would be more interested in interacting with it.
