Due to our online process and digital capabilities, we can already see that:
It took less than six months for Investec Life to reach ZAR one billion in cover on the books.
65% of policies to date have been issued straight-through our online system.
Clients have expressed disbelief at the easy process – many were not expecting their policies to issue
immediately.
The marginal cost of client acquisition is extremely low due to the digital process and the cost efficiencies from
fewer clients requiring medical tests.
Underwriting teams are smaller, and focus their efforts on the more complex cases. The simple cases go straight
through, which should result in better underwriting decisions and improved results over time.

  • 2. 2 Convenient Pain point: standardised paperwork, medical tests and weeks of processing Investec Mortgage Protection Cover is the first product of its kind in South Africa. The quick, easy process involves only two medical questions for healthy individuals under the age of 50. Premiums automatically adjust monthly so that clients only pay for the cover they need. Clients can save between 20% - 35% in premiums versus traditional cover in the market. Our clients can apply for insurance online, end-to-end, at times and places that suit them. Dedicated resources (advisors and 24/7 global telephonic support) to assist. Medical tests are only required for a minority of clients, eliminating paperwork and standardised medical tests. Our system is able to prepopulate information based on existing data, and assess new client information to curate a journey that is relevant to their needs. It is built with a needs analysis tool/ robo-adviser to assess new-cover requirements. We enhanced client understanding by simplifying product options, client communication and developing educational resources and tools – videos, brochures, online tools. Easy to understand
  • 4. 4 Personalised Pain point: processes, products and client experiences that aren’t relevant to clients Because we service a highly specific client base, we can provide tailor-made client experiences. Our responsive online system combines existing data with newly provided information to create a relevant, personalised client journey. Premium rates are fully underwritten (unlike traditional credit/simple products in the market) – this makes it more cost effective for the client. But medical tests are only required for a minority of clients, eliminating paperwork, inconvenience and reducing cost. Clients have the option to build their own insurance portfolio with our modular, fully underwritten products.   • 5. 5 Results Due to our online process and digital capabilities, we can already see that: It took less than six months for Investec Life to reach ZAR one billion in cover on the books. 65% of policies to date have been issued straight-through our online system. Clients have expressed disbelief at the easy process – many were not expecting their policies to issue immediately. The marginal cost of client acquisition is extremely low due to the digital process and the cost efficiencies from fewer clients requiring medical tests. Underwriting teams are smaller, and focus their efforts on the more complex cases. The simple cases go straight through, which should result in better underwriting decisions and improved results over time.
