Les Demoiselles d'Avignon by Pablo Picasso has been called one of the most important works in the genesis of modern art by The Museum of Modern Art in a 2004 publication1 and the most influential work of art of the last 100 years in a 2007 article in Newsweek.2 Picasso created the work in 1907, the modern era. Determining the proper culture is difficult. He is considered a Spanish painter. There are clear Iberian and African influences presented in the painting. He painted it in Paris. The title references a brothel in Barcelona, Spain. So, for the most consistent classification, Spanish culture seems to be the most fitting.
That said, this work is less about the cultural ties to that place, and more about someone reaching for a new direction in art. The social/psychological reference within the work has been interpreted by William Rubin in his book dedicated to the work as reflecting his deep-seated fear and loathing of the female body, which existed side by side with his craving for and ecstatic idealization of it.3 If this is true, then the way the figures are distorted would certainly support that idea. However, for two reasons this work is more than just a social comment from Picasso or a psychological manifestation of his attitude toward women and more one of development of a personal, and possibly intentional new style of presenting subject matter. The early rivalry between Matisse and Picasso is well documented. It has been suggested that Matisse's Bonheur de vivre (The Joy of Life) became a challenge for Picasso's creation of Les Damoiselles d'Avignon.4 The two seemed to be competing for who would be the leader in the pursuit of Modern Art. If this work were the last one by Picasso, it may not have had the lasting impact on the world of art that it enjoys. But in his subsequent work, and others, the fragmentation and representation of subject matter in planes that defy nature began with this work. It is a new aesthetic approach that forced the viewer at that time to reconsider many aspects of what art is and how space can be redefined.
On one hand the subject matter could be viewed as a personal comment on brothels in general, but because it is clear that Picasso was in search for a new direction in modern art, it is clear that his main purpose was to influence the world of art with this new way of presenting subject matter.

Hanging on in Quiet Desperation: Internal Tensions in Dark Side of the Moon
Da da da dum… The four opening notes of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, recognizable even
in written form, introduce a four-part composition which takes nearly forty minutes to perform and
comprises multiple movements interconnected by musical motifs. Thematically connecting parts of
a composition into a larger whole is a tradition which goes back centuries in Western classical
music, yet in most contemporary twentieth-century music, the focus was on much shorter works;
compared to an hour-long symphony, a three minute single is far more suitable for radio play or for
dancing. In the latter third of the twentieth century, however, rock music revisited the classical
tradition with the emergence of the concept album—a work whose “music, imagery, and … lyrics
are conceptually linked to a single overall theme or unified story” (Rose 8). Perhaps no musician
has been as dedicated to this form as former Pink Floyd front man and bassist Roger Waters, who
has masterminded ten concept albums (five Pink Floyd albums, four solo albums, and an opera).
Many of the recurring themes that he explored more deeply in his later work appeared initially in
Pink Floyd’s first concept album, Dark Side of the Moon, an album heavily influenced by Waters’
vision. This album explores the things which drive people mad, or as Waters puts it, the “pressures
which are anti-life” (Miles 92). This discourse on the stresses and strains of life—the passage of
time, work, money, war, madness, and death—takes the form of an oblique one-sided dialogue,
expressed as two voices seeking to guide a notional youth through adulthood. The dialogue
oscillates between hope and despair, between optimism and pessimism, between scornful censure
and soothing support. It does this not only lyrically but musically as the instrumental work on the

album similarly fluctuates between conflicting emotional states. The vacillation of this dialogue
reveals a further and perhaps most significant stress—that of priorities and of pressures that, no
matter what, cannot possibly all be satisfied. Dark Side of the Moon, then, not only discusses
timeless themes of the human condition, but by implying that it is impossible to satisfy all of life’s
demands, it encourages the listener to distinguish in their own lives between those things that are
genuinely important and those things which may be seductively and immediately enticing yet are
ultimately inconsequential or even ruinous.

The two main threats to biodiversity today are habitat loss and pollution. Our environments are seriously threatened by pollution. Pollution in the air, water, soil, and plastics have all have a negative impact on biodiversity. As you travel down the highways, you will see that plastic bottles and wrappers are all over the place, and factory emissions are contaminating the air with ammonia, dust, and soot. Animals suffering from respiratory distress from air pollution also have lower reproductive rates, which reduces biodiversity. In addition to polluting our air, greenhouse gases cause climate change, which destroys hundreds of coral reefs in our oceans. Our fish die from water contamination, which results in a decline in fish diversity. Another significant problem with biodiversity is habitat loss. Many species become extinct due to habitat loss. To develop another structure or establishment, this act entails razinf forests and habitats. Because they are removing such a large number of species from their habitats, this has a significant negative impact on biodiversity. Additionally, some species could become extinct completely as a result of this. These dangers are posed by people and companies that want to build more buildings and tear down forests and habitats to do so.

Hanging on in Quiet Desperation: Internal Tensions in Dark Side of the Moon
Da da da dum… The four opening notes of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, recognizable even
in written form, introduce a four-part composition which takes nearly forty minutes to perform and
comprises multiple movements interconnected by musical motifs. Thematically connecting parts of
a composition into a larger whole is a tradition which goes back centuries in Western classical
music, yet in most contemporary twentieth-century music, the focus was on much shorter works;
compared to an hour-long symphony, a three minute single is far more suitable for radio play or for
dancing. In the latter third of the twentieth century, however, rock music revisited the classical
tradition with the emergence of the concept album—a work whose “music, imagery, and … lyrics
are conceptually linked to a single overall theme or unified story” (Rose 8). Perhaps no musician
has been as dedicated to this form as former Pink Floyd front man and bassist Roger Waters, who
has masterminded ten concept albums (five Pink Floyd albums, four solo albums, and an opera).
Many of the recurring themes that he explored more deeply in his later work appeared initially in
Pink Floyd’s first concept album, Dark Side of the Moon, an album heavily influenced by Waters’
vision. This album explores the things which drive people mad, or as Waters puts it, the “pressures
which are anti-life” (Miles 92). This discourse on the stresses and strains of life—the passage of
time, work, money, war, madness, and death—takes the form of an oblique one-sided dialogue,
expressed as two voices seeking to guide a notional youth through adulthood. The dialogue
oscillates between hope and despair, between optimism and pessimism, between scornful censure
and soothing support. It does this not only lyrically but musically as the instrumental work on the

album similarly fluctuates between conflicting emotional states. The vacillation of this dialogue
reveals a further and perhaps most significant stress—that of priorities and of pressures that, no
matter what, cannot possibly all be satisfied. Dark Side of the Moon, then, not only discusses
timeless themes of the human condition, but by implying that it is impossible to satisfy all of life’s
demands, it encourages the listener to distinguish in their own lives between those things that are
genuinely important and those things which may be seductively and immediately enticing yet are
ultimately inconsequential or even ruinous.

Additionally, some species could become extinct completely as a result of this. These dangers are posed by people and companies that want to build more buildings and tear down forests and habitats to do so.

Such as .aaa , .micro , .encrypted , .ttt , .xyz , .zzz , .locky , .crypt , .cryptolocker , .vault , or .petya. These extensions are an indication that a file has been partially or fully encrypted. What's recommended is that as soon as you find out that your files are being locked, you disconnect from all wireless connections and other computing devices, because this virus can and will spread to cause even more havoc. It can spread across your network and ruin other computers on said network.
Ransomware is normally delivered by drive-by downloads or email phishing. Drive-by downloads are a fancy way of saying a download that you pick up while browsing a site and it runs in the background. Email phishing is one of the reasons you don't click on links from emails from anyone, even from trusted sources. If you know who the email is coming from your best bet is to get with them personally to make sure that it's a valid email and that it's not an attacker. If a ransom is paid though, the attack may give you an encryption key to unlock your files, if your lucky enough. Why take a chance though, you should always take the smart path and make sure that you contact the proper authorities if you come across anything like this in your time. Also make sure to back up your computer files, it may sound obvious enough to want to put it off and procrastinate this, but the longer you wait the more at risk you are.

Familiarizing yourself with such ethical considerations will be important for you to understand in your future professional practice.

In cross-cultural psychology research, a broad range of techniques is utilized to determine the best way to access critical data. Each technique has its advantages and disadvantages. For example, laboratory experiments may offer great control and ability to examine issues of cause and effect, but may not always reflect actual real-world conditions, especially in cross cultural situations. As an additional example, long term field work and interviews conducted by living in a given cultural setting for a year or two, may offer the possibility of many nuanced observations, yet such qualitative work will not lead to statistical or experimental designs. Each method tends to have pros and cons, rather than one method being the "right" one for every situation. Byrnside from The Musical Quarterly, Vol. 66, No. 4 (October, 1980), pp. 522-537, published by Oxford University Press here in Module 6. 4. Now that you've carefully examined and researched the work of music, write and submit the finished essay using at least three fully developed paragraphs and at least 500 words, in which you :

In doing this, identify at least TWO basic elements of music described in the Module 6 required textbook pages "The Basic Elements of Music." Identify the "mood" of the song. What kind of "Impression" does it give you? Explain whether "Clair de Lune" is Apollonian or Dionysian, and provide evidence supporting your argument. Knowing that "Clair de Lune" belongs to a musical school known as Impressionism (based on your research) describe the similarities and differences between Impressionism as an artistic movement (as we learned about in Module 5) and as a movement in music. Use evidence from "Clair de Lune" and your exploration of Impressionism to support your arguments. Conclude by commenting on whether or not you believe that Music and Visual Art should share an artistic classification such as "Impressionism." In other words, does referring to "Clair de Lune" (the song) AND Claude Monet's "Impression Sunrise" (the painting) both as "Impressionism" make sense?
