1. ‘Sub pop’ records, is a small label and fanzine
which is well established and features a lot of
folk/rock artists as well as rock. It would be a
suitable record label for the band because of the
genre and the fact that they are experienced in
promoting artists within this area of music.
Vertigo Records has many
signed artists of the rock
genre including Razor light,
One Night Only, Chase and
Status and The Killers.
Although the artists that
they have signed are of
similar musical background
to our band, it is not so
much of the folk genre,
hence why sub pop may be
more suitable. It is also UK
based which is important in
the promotion of British
music.
Although Warner Music Group is an American based company; they
are well established and have published a large amount of music – on
its own and with other subsidiary companies. It is the third largest
business group and family of record labels in the recording industry. It
may be a good choice of record label for the band as the US has the
largest folk music following and could therefore prove a success in
raising the bands profile.
