Instant City - a BaMC Challenge: Household I, Spring 1
1. Instant City , a BaMC-Challenge
Household I
Spring 1
Instant City
Household I,
Spring 1
2. - Avra Cadev… wait, no, wrong spell… Prolapsum Patro.. no, still not it… aw heck – Hello, dear readers, to another instalment
of Instant City, a BaMC Challenge… yep, it’s getting magical, as the I-Household makes its way through Spring… so far we’ve
successfully established Numa Key as Instant City Business District, got Pizza and Chinese Food, put on some deco to make
everything look nice… and now we’re continuing with closing in the gaps f the place, and I’ve already prepared some special
buildings to do so… yep, that’s right, after steal… borrowing Lots from others over and over, the next buildings will be made
by me… with some little inspiration I found around the Internet of course…-
3. -… and here is the magic Coven! Wow guys, you got really screwed over so far… look at all those cars in your inventory – you
have brooms, you can fly wherever you want, why would you buy cars? –
‘ Ever sat on a broom? It’s not the most comfortable object in the world?’
- Well, but can’t you just make yourself a flying car like the Weasley's had? –
‘Well we would – but the magic ministry doesn’t allow muggle cars as broom replacements unless you have a family that
seems to multiply spontaneously via their red hair – and for a bus, you’ll need an allowance too!’
-… Dang, bureaucracy really is ruining everything… anyway, clean out your inventories and start– guess what….?-
4. -… Yep, studying – of course, this time, it is really easy, we have snapdragons, magical thrones and no job…-
5. -… so the first maxed skills popped in on the second day of spring…-
6. -… and halfway through, we got all of them maxed – Great! Now – since last season, we made Instant City the home of
dozens of Grey Mages, so we now have an actual mission awaiting us… because the White Mages and the Black Mages have
big-@$$ Castles for themselves, probably financed by selling these awesome thrones of light and darkness for many
Moola… and what do Grey mages have? A tiny little witch statue they have – how unfair! Something must be done against
this – and it starts here! -
7. -… and with this Building! –
‘…. …. …. What is – that - ?’
‘This, my friend, is the all-new , almost-patented, super-usable Warehouse/Row house building, designed and built by ME –
a 2x1 Lot, that uses the maximum of usable space, coming with a decent concrete-y look, nice high windows adding to the
factorial design and equipped with a welcoming wide garage door…’
8. - … as well as a nice second floor with a not-really-but-supposed-to-be-grid walk and a chimney that looks really
industrial on the outside…-
‘ in short: it’s an ugly, useless building with stuff that serves no purpose, and has nothing whatsoever to do with the whole
‘oh, the poor grey mages, we have to do something’-stance you talked about 2 moments ago…’
- One more word, and I’m locking you up in Azkaban's’ Dementor toilet stalls…-
‘ … *ulp*’
-… and also: what did I just say about Grey Mages? Totally unfair, something has to be done etc…. And we’re doing it starting
from scratch with this to show our determination….! -
9. -… so get to work and make money via selling magical objects…-
10. -… and to keep going, some snapdragons too… the thrones are ready as well to help you through the day…-
11. -… and while you learn the additional skills like physiology – since I learned, that you can earn them on Community
Businesses too, I don’t bother anymore learning them at home – you can go on some dates…-
12. -… also invite over a Servo from Household J and gift him the bookcase of education for their run…-
14. -…. Until….-
‘…. Woah… okay, it is still not that impressive… but for what it is, it is impressive now…’
- See? And it only it took us six weeks to build the new haven for all Grey Mages: The Manor of Permanent Twilight! –
‘… the…. manor of permanent twilight… like twilight…. outside…?
- Yeah! –
‘…. Oh whatever…should’ve known you’re just feeding your own ego with this whole ‘help the greys’-stuff…’
- … Nobody said I can’t enjoy my part in the movement…-
15. -… now, with all the Manor being completely established, it’s time to open it to the public and sell goods to the customers…-
‘Didn’t we just establish, that Grey mages can’t fabricate anything valuable?’
‘That’s why we’re gonna sell Magical Mystery Objects! –
‘… the Halloween deco's are suddenly magical mys… oh whatever…. Let’s just sell them, before I convince myself that kissing
a Dementor is fun compared to this…’
21. -… and instead of being placed in a far-away magical world, being a place for the people by the people in an actual business
district…!-
‘ Yeah, yeah – we get it, Smarty Luthor Ding-dong… can we go now? I feel really sick staying any longer with this boot kick to
the face of any serious rights movement…’
- *Sigh* in a moment…-
22. -… but first we have to change the weather…-
‘ The weather?’
-… well, apparently, we ran into another glitch… you went here in Spring, but somehow the lots thinks now that we have
winter… man, these climate controller objects are such a hassle…-
23. -… oh, hello, Vonnie – hey, as the infallibly good witch, what do you think of the Manor of Permanent Twilight? –
‘Oh, I think it’s a really nice idea… the neutral Witches and Wizards were always kind of the Underdogs of our Profession… now that
they have their own place, this sounds like a good way to get them out of the sad corner… also good thinking, giving them only such
a small place… the good and evil witches and wizards can be a bit of mimosa, when it comes to trumping them up… ‘
-… while I didn’t think of it that way, I’m glad…-
‘… also, now I don’t need to let my granddaughter – remember the winter rotation update ? - crash my place anymore – you do have
free thrones here, right?’
-…-
24. -… okay, so all things aside, I’m happy how the Manor of Permanent Twilight AND the Warehouse turned out – because
from now on, the Warehouse will serve as template for the remaining businesses that will be placed in Numa Key, because
I got the idea, that these Warehouses will add to the overall design of a ‘Harbor’ island, where goods from all around the
world are shipped to provide Instant City with everything it needs… that’s why the next building will be the warehouse
again, but this time…-
25. -… it will be a Club! –
‘Uggh… that looks… well… Gothic, everything is black with a bit red…’
- Correct, that is Club ‘Goth’ – and you got it, because Goths are kinda into the occult or supernatural or so…-
‘I’m not an expert in to Goths, but I’m pretty sure, that this is completely bogus and you just use it as a justification to put it
on our shoulders…’
- Does it matter? You have a Goth Club now, deal with it…-
26. -… oh, and the Coffin business above as well, too. –
‘Wo-wo-wait – a Coffin Business??’
- Very Gothic…-
‘But didn’t you say, that to count as a club, you can’t have a business for anything else as well?’
-… *sigh*… yeah, that’s why I ultimately did not count this as a club, as it breaks the rule I imposed upon myself… but I
made up for it later by thinking up pure club after pure club – also, I want a Coffin business…-
27. -… because if you haven’t noticed, Instant City seems to have an abundance of Elders running around… so a coffin is really
an investment into the future…-
‘A short future…’
- Exactly – and who knows, whether or not you’ll find a comfy place to lay yourself to rest, before Grimmy comes looking for
you…-
28. -… but lets not dwell on such dark matters any longer, and rather delve into dark matters that are fun…. Oh, yeah, Goths
know how to party…-
‘I’m pretty sure, there is not a single Goth in this city…’
-… I’m upset over your constant negativity now… I’ll crawl into a dark corner and write morbid poetry now…-
29. -… nah, kidding – I’d rather write about interesting things, like getting the lower rent network perk… we got it already
though, so that’s sad again…-
30. -… and I also like to write about the few times, where actually a Servo ordered a drink at the bar… yeah, also sad, not much
to say about that either…-
31. -… but now to more uplifting things: like Serva I-4 being the first member of the household to get an investment perk…-
32. -… followed by a first investment bonus and Serva I-4 getting a Gold Cash Register Badge… YAY! –
‘Please do not disturb the sad and morbid atmosphere that dwells in here… we’re losing customers…’
-… sorry… sad, depressed, sad, depressed…-
‘Not too depressed – we don’t want suicides either…’
-… yeah, you’re right…-
33. -… not that there are certain Sims that would be good candidates to… ehrm….okay, that was a bad joke, even the Not-Komei
doesn’t deserve that…
34. -… after all, he gave us a price for the lot… yeah… that’s kinda… I dunno… okay, this lot really starts to make me
uncomfortable…
35. -… *phew*… level 10… now lets leave this morbid scenery, and return to a much more happy place…-
36. -… back to the manor, where we make some more objects to get the money for our last business…-
‘ Another warehouse?’
-No… I wanted a bit variety, soo…-
37. -… I added the first element of what will be one day the Numa Key City Park – a green Oasis in the midst of the warehouse-
y landscape – starting with a tiny 1x1 element with slick larch trees and colorful lupines , a small paved walkway – and a
pottery…-
‘A Pottery? In a park?’
- There are people selling pottery in bigger parks, yes – provided they have a license…-
‘Okay, but why a pottery, what has that to do with magic, I mean… Oh:’
- That was a dumb question…-
‘point.’
38. -… and so the Numa Key Pottery was unofficially opened… okay, to be officially opened, some time would pass, of course…
we need to make pottery, get gold potter badges…. In the meant time feel free to enjoy the view of this template… I actually
designed 2 versions of these, one with larch trees, the other without… by latter putting 11 of these elements together, I get
a nice view of a larch park…-
‘Why only larches? How about some tree variety?’
- *Sigh* tried that… unfortunately, all the other trees looks sooo small compared to the larches in neighborhood view, that’s
why I chose uniformity ‘larch-ness’ over diverse ‘small tree-ness’… -
39. -… anyway, back to the pottery… and another trick I discovered… everybody probably knows by now, that the restaurant
podium raises the sales badge, and that it normally doesn’t work and can’t be accessed if you have no restaurant stove….
However – if you pause the game, place a restaurant podium, than, still paused, change to the Sims menu and then tell a
Sim to be the podium clerk, even after resuming time and the podium showing the usual ‘out of order’ sign, the Sim will
start acting like a clerk and raise its sales badge for the entire time… now, most sims won’t probably stay long enough to get
any advantage out of it, but, well, again – Servos…-
40. -… meanwhile we pottered and pottered and pottered, getting bronze, silver…-
41. -… annd gold! Great, now we only need a 100 vases, amphora's, plates…-
‘*Groan*’
-… oh please, you have thrones, so stop your whining…-
42. -… eventually, we had enough pottery, annd… yep, reviewer Not-Not Komei or however he is called, was our first customer,
gave us our crème price…-
43. -… annnd level 10 – yep, nothing interesting happened, we didn’t even had a fire from lightning, which is always
problematic for a tree-filled lot… that’s why I added lightning rods to most of these templates later via moveobjects in the
midst of the lupines – and a sprinkler right into the larch..-
‘That’s cheating!’
- No that’s simply lending you a hand because you are too stupid to extinguish a fire even with the skill learned…-
‘HEY’
- You can’t fight truth…-
44. -… okay, so with three level 10 skills, all transferrable business perks learned, a lot of pottery, and one Gold restocking badge
earned before we left the pottery, that’s another household well established… lets go home – and before one of you guys
now says ‘already?’ – I spent a lot of time with you transforming all these townies last season into witches and wizards, so
pardon me, if I keep this short this time… thank you for your understanding! –
‘…’
45. -… okay, so the little aftermath goes at usual – going home, switch off…-
47. -… wait for you to deliver all your dating roses from all the dreamdates you had to keep your aspiration up…-
48.
49. -… annnd – Season over, see you next summer! –
‘… well, at least he didn’t force us to transform even more people…’
- … don’t tempt me…-
50. -… and with that, another chapter of Instant City, a BaMC Challenge ends… and as you can see, we have already covered a
decent amount of the Business District, with the Manor of Permanent Twilight directly seated behind the Court and Prison…
because not even the most vicious Criminal would try to break out of prison simply by jumping over the fence and into a
magical manor of mysteries… remember Dementor toilet stalls?... Anyway, the park element has been placed next to the
Lookout mountain, but I might change the position later… also, the parks’ larch trees, as you can see, come in different
colors, as I plan to establish a bit of varying color pattern for the park…
- okay, that’s it – see you next time. -
- Happy Simming! -
