Return of the Codes -- SAS', Windows' and Your'sMark Tabladillo
Robust applications engage in the give-and-take discussion between commands and return codes. This presentation
encourages applications developers to implement comprehensive return code processing. This paper presents three
distinct categories. First, we consider return codes from SAS®. Second, we consider return codes from the
Windows® (as an example operating system). Third, we discuss development principles for proactively writing your
own return messages. The examples draw from SAS/AF® and Windows®, and affect all SAS applications
development (including robust SAS Macro development). This paper introduces the rich conversation an application
can and should have with its environment. Special attention focuses on error messages and recovering gracefully
from unexpected or unintentional results.
Accelerate Your Big Data Analytics Efforts with SAS and HadoopDataWorks Summit
Analytics and machine learning continue to be the top use cases for deploying big data platforms such as Hadoop. SAS recognised the potential and power of Hadoop platform early on and has been integrating analytical solutions with Hadoop to leverage the power and flexibility of Hadoop for analytical workloads. The combination of SAS and Hadoop offers developers and organisations an approach that can accelerate the development and deployment of big data analytics applications that are mature, proven and scalable. Furthermore, by giving developers and analysts analytical applications that are rich, proven and collaborative, SAS allows more users across different skill levels to unleash the value of data stored in big data platform more easily and quickly.
In this session, we will cover common big data analytics use cases, the depth and breadth of SAS analytical capabilities on Hadoop, and how SAS solutions are integrated into the Hadoop ecosystem via technologies such as Hive, YARN and Spark.

Come learn all about AWS Cloud9, AWS’s newly announced integrated development environment (IDE) in the cloud. In this session, we’ll give an overview of Cloud9 and do a live demo of exciting features and use cases.
With Cloud9 you can write, run, and debug code with just a browser. It includes a code editor, debugger, and terminal. Cloud9 comes pre-packaged with essential tools for popular programming languages including JavaScript, Python, PHP, and more, so you don’t need to install files or configure your development machine to start new projects. Since your Cloud9 IDE is cloud-based, you can work on your projects from your office, home, or anywhere using an internet-connected machine. Cloud9 also provides a seamless experience for developing serverless applications allowing you to easily define resources, debug, and switch between local and remote execution of serverless applications. With Cloud9, you can quickly share your development environment with your team, allowing you to pair program and track each other’s inputs in real-time.

The Fantastic Voyage to PaaS - Are we there yet? (Cloud Foundry Summit 2014)VMware Tanzu
Keynote delivered by Casey Hadden, Software Developer and Architect at SAS.
SAS is a software vendor with 35+ years of industry history (and 35+ years of software decisions). From mainframes, Unix workstations, and client-server to web applications, big data, and cloud; one constant has been the changing computing environment. Throughout these eras, SAS software and the SAS business has adapted to each change in order to deliver valuable analytics to our customers.
With cloud environments firmly ensconced and PaaS gaining traction every day, how does SAS rework its software and business again to compete and thrive in this environment? How can SAS help to fill in the 'Analytics' portion of an enterprise PaaS strategy?

The choice of an operating system plays a pivotal role in shaping our computing experience. For decades, Microsoft's Windows has dominated the market, offering a familiar and widely adopted platform for personal and professional use. However, as technological advancements continue to push the boundaries of innovation, alternative operating systems have emerged, challenging the status quo and offering users a fresh perspective on computing.
One such alternative that has garnered significant attention and acclaim is Nitrux Linux 3.5.0, a sleek, powerful, and user-friendly Linux distribution that promises to redefine the way we interact with our devices. With its focus on performance, security, and customization, Nitrux Linux presents a compelling case for those seeking to break free from the constraints of proprietary software and embrace the freedom and flexibility of open-source computing.
A tale of scale & speed: How the US Navy is enabling software delivery from l...sonjaschweigert1
Rapid and secure feature delivery is a goal across every application team and every branch of the DoD. The Navy’s DevSecOps platform, Party Barge, has achieved:
- Reduction in onboarding time from 5 weeks to 1 day
- Improved developer experience and productivity through actionable findings and reduction of false positives
- Maintenance of superior security standards and inherent policy enforcement with Authorization to Operate (ATO)
Development teams can ship efficiently and ensure applications are cyber ready for Navy Authorizing Officials (AOs). In this webinar, Sigma Defense and Anchore will give attendees a look behind the scenes and demo secure pipeline automation and security artifacts that speed up application ATO and time to production.
We will cover:
- How to remove silos in DevSecOps
- How to build efficient development pipeline roles and component templates
- How to deliver security artifacts that matter for ATO’s (SBOMs, vulnerability reports, and policy evidence)
- How to streamline operations with automated policy checks on container images

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
