INTRAMURAL SPORTS Innertube Waterpolo Manager’s Meeting
General Rules Teams can have 7 players in play at a time 3 males 3 females Goalie of either gender Substitutions may be made at during half-time, a time-out or after goals The referee must be notified before entry MANAGER'S MEETING
General Play The game will consist of two 20 minute halves There will be a running clock The clock will stop for timeouts and injuries Teams are allotted 1 timeout per half MANAGER'S MEETING
General Play Beginning Play: Play in each half begins with both teams lined up at the opposite ends of the pool The referee blows the whistle and tosses the ball to the center of the pool The two teams may then advance Scoring: The ball must be throw into the netting of the goal If the ball strikes the water it will be considered dead A goal scored by a male counts for 1 point A goal scored by a female counts for 2 points After a goal is scored, the ball is put back in to play by the team that was scored upon MANAGER'S MEETING
Defending To prevent a player from advancing the ball, a defender may: Move in front of the advancing player Knock away or seize the ball from an opposing player, avoiding physical contact Force the player with the ball out of their inner tube by grabbing, shaking, or dunking that player's inner tube Splashing the person with the ball, excluding  the goalie. Minor Penalties While in possession of the ball you may not hold  on to the pool ledge or hold the ball under water Offensive players may not enter the goalie area Goalies may not throw the ball over the center line Goalies may not hold the ball for longer than 10 seconds No player outside of their innertube may involve themselves in a play Holding, pushing, hitting, jumping on, or dunking an opposing player not in possession of the ball will result in the ball being given to the nearest player on the opposing team. Major Penalties A major penalty will result in a penalty shot for the opposing team. Must be taken by a female All players except the goalie and shooter must leave the penalty area No players may be within 3 yards of the shooter Major fouls include the following: Committing a minor foul in an attempt to stop a goal from being scored Excessive roughness or language Intentionally delaying the game for the clear advantage of the stalling team Jumping on, physically dunking the head/body of a player.
