Competences and Ethics
IP Awareness
In an increasingly regulated and competitive world there is now more than ever a need to properly define ethical
ways of conducting research activities and business. This training module will provide a special focus on
business ethics courses and best practices in ethics.
IP management will also be a core item in this training module. A series of case studies will be provided to
illustrate the numerous issues that may arise with respect to the management of intellectual property.
This training will also provide information related with:
Overview of IP management from the generation of intellectual property to its exploitation and application.
• Awareness building.
• Maintaining good laboratory records.
• The types of IP agreements, especially in the context of exchanging research material and information.
• The importance of confidentiality, especially with respect to publishing and delivering academic
presentations.
• When to disclose intellectual property.
• IP management in consortium with Academia and/or industry
