3. Initiation of Girls into Women
 The Initiation of young girls begins at the age of 14 or 15 years old when
her first period or menstruation starts
 The girls are taken away by the elderly women of the clan or village to be
taught the customs and responsibilities of woman
 During this period, girls are also tattooed from head to toe thorns and
charcoal from a certain wood from the bush
 The tattooing starts from the upper body, bottom and thighs which is soft
and painful before moving on the face, head, arms and legs
 Each family and clan has their own designs which are tattooed onto girls

6.  During the initiation period, villagers prepare for a feast to celebrate the
completion of the girls initiation
 At the end of the initiation period, a week long of feasting and dancing is
celebrated
 During this time, people from other villages come to join in the celebration
and see the girls who have been initiated into women
 After everything, the girls who are now seen as women are ready to
perform their responsibilities and the obligations of a woman
