There are over 100 types of cancers that can affect any part of the body. In 2007, cancer caused over 7 million deaths worldwide, with over 70% occurring in low and middle income countries. The top cancers that kill men are lung, stomach, liver, colorectal, and esophageal, while the top cancers that kill women are breast, lung, stomach, colorectal, and cervical. Tobacco use is a leading preventable cause of cancer. Early detection and treatment can cure a third of cancers.
A healthy lifestyle is a way of living that lowers the risk of illness and early death, helps you enjoy more aspects of life, and helps your whole family. It involves behaviors that avoid preventable diseases like heart disease and cancer. Adopting a healthy lifestyle through choices that improve health can provide longer, healthier lives for yourself and your family and create a positive environment for children.
Yoga has roots dating back thousands of years but grew in popularity in western cultures in the early 20th century. It focuses on postures, breathing, and meditation to relax the body and mind. While yoga originated in Hinduism, it is now practiced across religions and philosophies. Modern research shows yoga can effectively reduce stress and anxiety while improving strength, flexibility, and overall health. Its accessibility and wide-ranging benefits help explain yoga's continued expansion in popularity globally.
Anorexia nervosa is a psychiatric illness and eating disorder characterized by extreme low body weight and distorted body image, with an obsessive fear of gaining weight. While it primarily affects adolescent females, approximately 10% of cases are male.
The document discusses the biopsychosocial model of obesity. It states that obesity is influenced by biological, psychological, and social factors rather than simply overeating. Biologically, genetics and brain wiring can increase obesity risk, while psychosocially, factors like culture, stress, and socioeconomic status also impact obesity levels. The biopsychosocial perspective helps explain why obesity treatments often fail by overlooking these multiple influences.
The document discusses the interdependency between health, hygiene, and nutrition. It states that health requires a balance of physical, mental, and social well-being as well as an absence of disease. Hygiene involves practices that maintain health and prevent disease spread. Nutrition provides immunity against disease. Maintaining good hygiene, sanitation, and adequate nutrition work together in a cycle to control disease and support good health. The key message is that good health depends on sanitation, hygiene, and proper nutrition working together.

Eating disorders are often linked to weight concerns and body dissatisfaction that develop during adolescence. Additional research is needed to better understand the relationship between body dissatisfaction and eating disorder symptomatology. A study found that those concerned with their outward appearance were more likely to engage in harmful weight control behaviors if dissatisfied with their body, while those with internal focus were less likely to do so. Weight concerns have been shown to influence the development of eating disorders across several studies.
An illness occurs when the body is not functioning well and symptoms like coughing, sneezing, dizziness or fever appear. This document provides a yogic perspective on cancer. It discusses that cancer occurs due to an imbalance in the body's energy system according to yogic teachings. While medical opinions on cancer change frequently, the fundamental physiology and chemistry of the human body has remained the same. From a yogic view, cancer is seen as resulting from an imbalance in the pranamaya kosha or energy body, rather than being different types based on where it manifests. The document advocates gaining a deeper understanding of one's own body and energy system through practices like yoga and meditation rather than solely relying on external concepts and information.

Angels are spiritual beings mentioned in many religious scriptures that are said to help humans. They have unconditional love for all of God's creations and see our true potential, encouraging growth. Angels can help humans when asked but cannot intervene with free will. Connecting to angels is as easy as connecting with a friend and invoking them can help bring success, prosperity, healing, and help one overcome daily battles and hurdles. Regular contact with angels can help bring positive changes to one's life, making one feel radiant and at peace. Looking to angels for help is encouraged.
The document profiles Alexandra Merisoiu, founder of Urban Women Fitness. She developed The Merisoiu Technique to help professionals, especially women, overcome stress and depression through a healthy lifestyle.
